Lots of cacao, chocolate, dried brown fruits (prune, date, fig), coffee and a rich, creamy body that eases into a very dry (but not quite austere finish. Another fine Evil Twin offering.

UPDATED: NOV 19, 2015 Excellent! Opened at a good temperature and it was an enthusiastic gusher!! Poured a colossal, foamy, frothy, fluffy, tan head that settled very slowly. The bottle is about 20% full and is STILL gushing!! Wow. Color is an opaque black brown. Aroma is roast, malt, cocoa, coffee, toffee, vanilla. Flavor’s like nose, smooth, balanced and has a light bittersweet on top cut with perfect carbonic tang. Body is full, lush, round and just right. Finish is like flavor, average length, and has some boozy warmth. Yum! Though I wish more wouldv’e gone into the glass v the sink. Edit: This 2nd time- no gusher, just a nice pour. Aroma is similar to last time plus this time I also pick up hops. Flavor’s like last time tho bitter and tang see more bold. Body is similar to last time.

Bottle. Pours a thick and near black color with a smallish dark tan head. Nose has some great roasting and coffee elements to it with some light and subtle bitterness being present underneath. Taste is a little bitter and almost burnt, but still very roasty with a very subtle sweetness finishing it. I like it.

Pours a dark brown with a foamy tan head. Aroma is sweet roasted malts, chocolate, and wood. Flavor is similar, with a touch of bourbon. Has a full body and goes down smooth. Excellent imp stout.

Beer tasting@Svijet piva, Zagreb. 0.33 bottle shared with Niko. Pitch black, small brown-tan head, like tan spots on the surface, went away quickly. Strong caramel aroma, dark bread, chocolate and dried plums. Taste is licorice, bitter with toffee sweetness. Very complex. Incredibly full body, long lasting bitter finish. Some might find this lingering bitterness to much, but it’s just what I like about this imperial stout. Almost perfect!

Foam is nougat brown and poor, but since the strength is on the whole 10%, the rich foam are often rare. Clear strong aroma of dark chocolate and strong coffee. Sweet taste of dried fruits (prunes and raisins) and then a good and rich saturation of dark chocolate, where strong coffee notes knocking on in the background. The alcohol contributes vinous warm filling, and towards the end surpasses the taste to a beautiful mocha flavor that draws long pleasant and satisfying aftertaste. Carbonation is completely gone in this Imperial Stout, but when it is already packed with great flavors, even a slight tingling in the mouth caused by carbonation enough aggravate the good impression it holds. An absolutely well brewed Imperial stout, which is fine for the winter. Great applause from here.

090616. The makeup of this beer is almost as heavy and deep as the name of the beer, certainly one of the more unusual beer names going around at the moment. Not that this should surprise anyone. When I had this beer that I bought from Beer Cartel it wasn’t Christmas Eve, I wasn’t in New York and I wasn’t in a hotel room - not that any of that stopped me from enjoying this beer immensely. This is a beer that is big in every sense of the word, big deep black colour that reflects the light back at you, big dark chocolate and coffee aromas that fill your nose, big flavours of coffee beans, cocoa and vanilla and a big hit of alcohol - like I said - big. The thickness of this beer leaves a coating along the roof of your mouth and the flavour secrets itself into every pore of your mouth. A deep dense black colour with a thin line of tan foam this beer sits there and almost dares you to drink it. Enjoyable from the first sip to the last.
