Oily black pour with a 3 finger, dense, creamy, oily mocha brown head. Aroma is huge on roasted nuts, chocolate, mild coffee, earthy wood, smoke, roast, char, dark caramel and just a hint of herbal, floral hops. The fist sip starts of with tons of sweet milk chocolate, turning darker as it goes, lots of roasted nuts, dark coffee, dark caramel then the lightly bitter roast, char and burnt sugar kick in followed by earthiness. Finishes with cocoa and some grassy, floral, pine and herbal hop notes. Heavy body with a creamy to chewy entry, light, blanketing and slightly sharp carbonation, nice alcohol warmth without being overly boozy and a still creamy and chewy, but slightly char-dry finish. Really good stuff, probably something I will try again.

pours opaque black with a nice brown head. aroma is boozy, with roasted coffee and anise. flavor of fresh roasted coffee, anise, and dark fruit. alcohol is very present in the finish. Medium bodied. Pretty solid. My only negative observation, this is a little thin. Should have more body.

on tap @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Opaque black with a brown head cover, streaks of lace. Aroma of roasted malt. Taste is roasted chocolate malt with a bit of anise that becomes more bitter through the addition of coffee tasting hops, rounding things out with noticeable alcohol warmth in the finish. A strong, but enjoyable brew.

Bottle that I believe I picked up from De Molen Beer shop, Bodegraven, late Sept’ 2014 consumed at home Sunday 19th November 2014 Pours black with light beige head. Sumptous, indulgent, silky smooth, rich beer. There is a little sweet liquorice, cream and gentle roastiness and coffee. Wonderful, lovely beer. A7 A4 T8 P5 Ov15 3.9

Pours a deep black with hints of brown, nice tan lacy head. Aroma is booze on booze with hints of fruit and licorice. Taste is smoky intense roast with a big boozy licorice back end, hint of plum and muscadine. Booze is less on the mouth than nose, but still present. They make better stouts, but not bad.

Bottle from CBX. Black pour with a creamy brown head. Aroma of bitter dark chocolate, roasted malts, licorice, nuts and hints of dark fruits. Heavy roasted malts, dark fruits, nuttiness, licorice and a lot of bitterness throughout with a big dryness and medium heavy body. Not bad but definitely a winter sipper.
