Sask89 (500) - Regina, Saskatchewan, - FEB 16, 2014
UPDATED: FEB 21, 2014 Pours pitch black with an extremely frothy mocha head (the bottle almost overflowed). Aroma of dark chocolate, black liquorice, slight coffee and a little oak. Taste is not really sweet, it is rich and fairly bitter, which is nice. Full body, lively mouth feel, over carbonated (not surprising). Overall a really awesome beer.

Bottle. Pours Black with a thin brown head. Doesn’t leave a ton of lacing in the glass. Has a lot of roasted malt on the nose. Definitely on the drier side with a fair amount of roast on the tongue.Finishes Clean. Hides its booze well. It’s a solid beer but doesn’t strike me as an outstanding one.

Bottle @ home. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized brown head that lasts for a decent while. Aroma is malts, dark malts, chocolate, lightly roasty. Taste malts, dark malts, chocolate, light roast and a nice dark malt bitter. Oily texture, full body, medium quite firm carbonation for a beer like this. Still, quite nice.

12 oz. bottle, consumed on 4-7-16. Dark brown. Small to moderate amount of short-lasting, dark taupe head. Dark amber hue. Nice shade of head. Scents of chocolate, chocolate chip muffin, caramel, and banana bread. Dusty aroma. Char and tar atop a really nice malt base. Herbal, piney, almost spicy taste. Cumin and curry flavors. Even a touch of mint cotton candy, though it’s far from cloyingly sweet. Dry finish. Tarry aftertaste. Full body. Smooth and oily in the palate. Fairly lively. Good across the board, but not great.

With the weird name I was expecting something challenging, but that is not the case here. It is a good, roasty, well-balanced stout. It leans toward a dry, hoppy flavor and is robust but not overwhelming. One of the better smelling IS’s out there - licorice, bourbon, flowers, and vanilla. Very good indeed.

Alkohol kompletnie niewyczuwalny. Świetne piwo.

Kolor: bardzo ciemno brunatny, klarowny.
Piana: obfita, drobnopęcherzykowa, strzela, ale wolno opada.
Zapach: gorzka czekolada, kakao, kawa, delikatny sos sojowy, ciemne owoce.
Smak: niska pełnia, w kierunku wytrawnego, kakao, gorzka czekolada, lekka paloność, słodycz, średnia goryczka, delikatne rozgrzewanie od alkoholu.
Wysycenie: średnie.

Black with beige head. Aroma: toast, roasty, vanilla, soy sauce, little bit fruity. Taste: lots of dark malts, but rather coffee than roastiness, nice balanced by sweetness. Alcohol not hidden well.

Really cool name caught my attention when ordering dinner at Pizza Man in Milwaukee. This beer’s flavor is as excellent as its name. Shockingly smooth and no real bite or burn despite the 10 pct abv. Nice chocolate and coffee flavor.
