3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Black pour with a 1 finger head that fades to a thick ring and leaves minor lacing. Aroma is a nice mix of peat smoke, dark chocolate, ash, and light black licorice. Tastes pretty intense. Dark roast, moderate smoke, some charred wood, and dark chocolate. It’s intense but no noticeable alcohol. Medium to full body. Pretty nice stuff.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
The aroma is thick and musty from roasted malts, cocoa powder and an almost ashy and dry scent. The taste is spawned directly from Santa’s boots, with a sharp roast transforming into a liquorice sensation. There is also a sweeter presence, but the overall sensation is robust and thick Imperial Stout. Very delish this one

Draft at Whole Foods in Alexandria, VA.
Near black, opaque body with a thin, beige cap. Dark chocolate and roast aromas. Bitter chocolates, cocoa, perhaps a hint of spice. Mild char notes and singed coffee beans. Viscous with relatively low carbonation. Solid.

Pours a dark black with hint of red and brown head with modest to moderate lacing. Boozy nose up front. Taste of dark chocolate covered cherries. Mildy sweet. Some black licorice. Full bodied with moderate carbonation. Very long roast and woody finish. Very good imperial stout.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a thick black with tan coloured head. Big aroma, musty, dark bread, malt syrup, chinese soy sauce, a hint of booziness, mushroom reduction. Palate is not as big as expected. Fairly balanced with some sweetness, dark roasted malts, some gentle bitterness towards the end. Some lingering booziness. Tasty, but not very impressive as an Imp. Stout.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz bottle from Andersons. Near jet-black like "I Love You With My Stout" but maybe a touch thinner; yet again, nearly no head or lacing. A little brighter aroma than ILYWMS; vanilla, toffee, chocolate roast, maybe even some light citrus. Flavor roast, vanilla, caramel, Body medium-thick, yet oily, all while not being stupidly sugary sticky. Real nice.

Bottle. Pours black with small brown head. Aroma of espresso, dark chocolate, dark fruits, coffee liqueur and vanilla. Very rich and strong. Taste is bittersweet. Medium bitterness lingers through finish. Nice roastiness. Smooth body with low carbonation. Nice clean alcohol with some warming. Very pleasant. Very good.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: Pours black with a light brown head. Aroma is dark chocolate, espresso, heavily roasted malts, smoke, and hops. Taste is bitter, as one would expect. There is relatively little sugar in this monster. Body is heavy, but not syrupy. Plenty of dark chocolate and dark coffee up in there as well. Well made if you are into this kind of thing.
