Bottle. Pretty much black with a tan head that makes an inch and a half then subsides to a coat. Richly roasted aroma with molasses, coffee, pine and spices. Just a slightly aggressive and boozy edge to it. 8 If that edge detracts from the aroma a little, it lifts the taste and palate away from being a bit on the lush and bland side. It has sweet malty, roasted and mocha depth but a nice edge that’s a bit ashy and bitter. Finish is bitter dark chocolate. Very good.

Black with a fast vanishing tan head. Loads of sweet roasted malts, burnt sugar, treacle... Good stuff.

330ml from tap enjoyed @ Brewdog Hong Kong. Pours a deep black color forming a small beige solid head that leaves lots of spotty molasses lacings in the glass. Nose is sweet and roasted. Notes of roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee beans, cherry tree, licorice, vanilla, grassy and herby hops. Taste follows the nose. Strong notes of roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, vanilla and grassy hops. Strong hops bitterness which is obviously mixed with roastiness. Heavy body. Low carbonation. Roasted malts, caramel and grassy hops bitterness in the aftertaste. Good drinkability. Great stout. Evil Twin quality.

Cocoa nibs, chocolate, licorice, roasty malt for the aroma. 2014 vintage, drank it on the new year’s Eve (2016). Sweetest then i expected, a hint of dark fruit and vanilla rounded well this one. Aged well.

Aroma of cocoa and dark malts at first feel, soon great hoppy aroma is appearing - wonderful piney notes, greatly balancing with dark malts In mouthfeel a little bit of tar but great bitterness from hops, little notes of liquor but also bitter chocolate. Overall great american ris, complex and nonconforming beer although alcohol could have been hidden better.

Great Imperial Porter
