3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
0.33l bottle from ōlbutikken. Then itís time for the younger brother. This one fills 6/8 of the glass with a almost furry, creamy and just plain old good fantastic looking gigantic chocolaty head. Perhaps a bit to big for some, but it just looks amazing in the glass! Really something out of the ordinary. The beer itself is black as the knight. On the aroma in this one I get lots of chocolate and some nice hoppy tones mixed with red currants. A bit roasted malts also, but thatís more in the background. It just looks like a million bucks this one! It also tasted pretty damn good! The taste buds react and they are telling my brain that this is tasting at first like really really heavy burned chocolate malts has been added to an already heavy roasted batch of brew, itís thick and really vicious with a soft to average carbonation level. Lotís of chocolate as well, butí itís never in any way sweet. There is also a little bit of coffee. And definitely licorice in this one - like coffee mixed with mineral water in a way. I really enjoyed this one, and I thin this was much better than the over carbonated gushing younger brother. Would not mind spending a Christmas eve in a random hotel room in New York as long as I had this as an companion. Tasty! 21.04.2012

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Systembolaget.
A heavy IS dominated by rosted malt and licorice. Feels a bit too young.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Black with creamy tan head. Rich aroma with heavy chocolate up front, followed by coffee, caramel and light light vineous. Flavour is heavy malty and chewy - and rich! There is chocolate, leather, coffee and caramel. Bitterness is medium-high. Big body with good residual sugars. Excellent beer!

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Aroma of roasted malt coffee and dark chocolate. Deep black with a light brown head. Perfectly balanced taste of sweetness and bitterness. Got some spicy hints. Thick and creamy but a bit short aftertaste. A really good stout. Recommended.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 oz. bottle from DalzAle. Pours oily black like dirty motor oil with a tan tight head that settles to a wispy film and coating collar. Aroma has burnt roast malt some soft soy and chocolate coffee scents as well. Taste is bitter roasted malt some soy hidden coffee and bakers chocolate. Palate is full little sticky and drying with a warming finish. Solid very nice!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Härlig arom, dock inget vidare skum utan försvinner snabbt och lämnar inte mycket efter sig. Smakar riktigt bra och blir troligen ännu bättre med lite lagring.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Sample at a Systembolaget tasting. Powerful smell with dark chocolate, coffee and dark bread. I sense a light spiciness as well, is it star anis and cloves or just the yeast playing tricks on me? Some boozy fumes from the glas. Taste of chocolate and coffee and also that spiciness. Long roasted bitter finish. Powerfull beer but very nice.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours a rich oily brown/black. Aroma is dark berries, it's fruitier in aroma than I thought it would be, with coffee, smoke, wood and milk choc too. Medium to full body, light, fine carbonation. Sweet and treacly with mildy bitter coffee and milky choc. The booze is there but not too in your face. Tasty.
