Special version of our infamous Disco Beer, this time brewed with a slight darker malt profile and aged on Chardonnay red wine barrels instead of the usual white wine barrels.

330ml brown bottle. Amber coloured with red tints. Full tan head, also has a bit of red in it. Sticky shoulders and good lacing. Nose has some berry fruitiness and caramel. Taste has cherrish notes, caramel, alcohol, wood. Dry finish, light tang, alcohol, lots of wood barrel, earthy notes. Nice citrusy finishing bitterness as well, melds well with the winey notes. Medium body with fairly tingly carbonation. Loving this red cap version, while the regular Disco didnít impress.

Bottled. Hazy orange colour, small white head. Aroma is mild coffee, grass, herbs, toffee and some wood. Also a slight bit of alcohol and fruits to it. Flavour is fruity, syrupy, toffeeish, quite nice bitterness along with some sweet malts and mild alcohol.

"Takes on a reddish hue, looking a lot like a barley wine. Tropical hops still shine, and the barrel softens this beer up soooo much. Fruity slightly Sweet and still finishing bitter. Better even than the gold cap."

Bottle on my birthday last year, bought from Brewtque, Macclesfield. Poured an amber brown with a decent beige head. Aroma of malts, wood, red wine vinegar, some citrus. Flavour has a hint of the wood and wine, malty, apples. Different but didnít really rave about it.

Bottle shared with northropfrye. My favourite thing about this beer is the aroma. Smells like roasted coffee however it does not taste like that. Part of me appreciates the vinous quality but part of me does not. Head is a little pink.

Reddish brown body with foamy rose-coloured head and nice lacing. Sweet and tart marly aroma. Fruity. Taste is sweet like a well balanced fruit beer with a touch of bitterness from the hops. Really nice and unique ale.

bottle, ruby red pour, looks much the same as the original disco elixir, but with less head, way less head. Aroma - wow interesting, its almost like raunchy brown sugar, or sweaty cup cake icing..disco baby. Taste - hmmm, slight sour, slight malty, slight hops, time to get up and own the dance floor..I think i just grew chest hair. More wine character then the original I had yesterday, less malty, or more? I canít tell, but its a cool fucking beer, and Iím enjoying it.

Pours in cloudy dark orange body with medium head. Aroma is packet with tropical fruits upfront, like mango, tangerine, lime. There is slight acidity in the background, probably from the barrels. Light notes of wood and strawberries. Taste is short light malty caramel sweet with quickly upcoming high earthy pine bitterness. Astringent after taste, which Id say is breaking the palate. Body is full with medium carbonation. Oily. For sure an interesting experiment.

Shared bottle at local tasting. Pours hazy deep red/brown with a huge frothy off-white head. Aroma of fruity hops, strawberries and red wine. Taste is light sweet, red wine, sugars, oak and wood. Not sure if this one was a good idea.
