4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle to glass. Pours the color of pomegranate juice with a two finger beige head. Head fades to half an inch pretty quickly but doesn’t go away. Caramel sweetness in the nose with bitter orange peel, Chardonnay grapes, and mild fruity, grassy hops. Taste is pretty unique. Belgian yeast appears first, sugary malt sweetness is balanced by the acidic vinous qualities and a bitter citrus hop flash after the swallow. Wine-like alcohol leaves modest warmth on the gums and in the throat. Light and clean in the mouth. Well crafted.

Shared bottle at local tasting. Pours hazy deep red/brown with a huge frothy off-white head. Aroma of fruity hops, strawberries and red wine. Taste is light sweet, red wine, sugars, oak and wood. Not sure if this one was a good idea.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours cloudy ruby red with white head. Aroma is a mix of malt and hops, get a hint of the red wine. Taste is smooth, vinous, with not much hop character left. Aftertaste is mildly sweet. Good one.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
330 ml bottle @ Gastropub Nordic, Tampere. Label says Chardonnay wine barrel aged. Pours a copper amber colour with a small foamy head. Aroma of sweet red berries, caramel and some earthiness. Flavour of sweet red berries, grass, tannine, distinct red wine barrel notes, yeast, herbs and some bitterness. Medium bodied, foamy mouthfeel and a warming, dry, berryish finish. The normal version was better.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
330 ml bottle. BBE 2015. At the Nordic, Tampere, Finland.
I'm not 100% sure if this is the Red Cap version as the cap wasn't red... But the label says it's Chardonnay aged not white wine aged... I don't know. I'm puzzled the rest of the night now...
Dark reddish brown colour, hazy and with a huge frothy light tan head.
Malt, sweetness, mild hops and toffee in the aroma. The aroma ain't that strong. The flavour is closer to an American Barley Wine than IIPA. Strong hoppy bitterness but even stronger maltiness, sweetness and mild vinous notes. Not that balanced. Bitterness in the aftertaste.

Bottle. Ahhh yes, the elusive red cap Disco Beer! Gorgeous pour-- deep red-orange with pinkish head of velvety texture. First aroma is musty funk and vinous sweetness. The palate is lovely, soft sweet malts with grapey vinous notes, not quite sticky. It reminds me of some wheat wines, but with more austere malt structure and a sweetness that is tempered by the distinct juicy vinous character and the lightly musty funk. Interesting pink peppercorn note in the finish (without any heat of course). Fantastic brew!

This was sent to me by Strykzone. Thanks Dave. Pours hazy dark amber with a foamy and long lasting beige head with good thick lacing. Nose of brown sugar with distinct aroma of red wine barrels. Full body. Smooth creamy mouth feel with some alcohol showing. . Flavor is rich with roasted malts, the brown sugar again, and some stone fruit . Some hops show in the finsih. Really us, roast malt, brown sugar and cooked stone fruit. Maybe a bit of tropical fruit. It’s not exactly dry, but not exactly sweet. Really delicious. Great beer. .
