COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Few times in the history of craft beer it has happened that a highly praised beer rises beyond mortal stardom into a higher godly league. Usually the recipe to make such heavenly drops is thick fudge-like body, pitch black color, amazingly overwhelming aromas of chocolate, coffee, dark fruits and muscovado sugar, obviously only made in limited amounts and most crucial of all Ė it must taste rare!

Draft. Pours a medium thick, poorly retained, tiny bubbled, beige head, with no lacing, over a clear almost still black (SRM 35) body......nose is multiple dried fruits including plum, raisin, cocoa, chocolate, light coffee, molasses, brown sugar, light her hops......taste is heavily sweet, with dreid fruits including plum raisin, fig, chocolate, cocoa, light coffee, molasses, brown sugar, finishing with mild hops bitterness......mouth feel, heavy sticky body, high alcohol warmth, slight carbonation. This is a very heavy, utterly sweet, rich on the dessert end of the style. The sweetness is a bit too dominant, and there is no umami as is found in the best. BJCP 8/3/14/4/7

Itís so good. Itís soooo good. And now that itís out in sixteen ounce cans, itís perfect. Pours jet black from the can with a huge mountain of chocolate cream brown head. The aroma is very rich, strong, bitter bakerís chocolate and a little coffee. The flavor is huge on that rich, bitter, very strong roasted malt/chocolate thing. Relentlessly so. Coffee, a little anise, strong, bitter roasted finish. The big ABV is only a ghost on the aftertaste. Ranks with Ten Fidy and Undead Party Crasher and my other favorite IRSís.

Can to shaker. Oily black in the glass with a fat lasting foamy dark chocolate brown head. Nose is heavy charred roasted. Palate is intense dark chocolate, dark roasted malt with sweet warm finish. Really well balanced. Yummy.

Tap @Zakl?teRewiry @Hevelka. Pitch black with thick tan head. Beautifully dark. Roasted aromas mix with plums, coffee, chocolate, caramel, butterscotch. Oily and thick, very satisfying fullness. Sweet but not overwhelmingly, the alcohol is there and gives it a warming feeling. Overall a great beer. Will get back to it whenever I get a chance.

UPDATED: JUL 6, 2016 Big bottle at home. Pitch black, thick, beige creamy head. Big bodied milky chocolate and coffee, red vinous fruits, vanilla/oak, butterscotch, nuts, caramel, ripe apples, light bitterness in the finish, even a bit bourbon-y heath: complex! Lingering vinous, roasted malty finish. Low carbonation, soft mouthfeel.

Motor oil in a glass. Beautiful! Aroma is really nice with the dark roasted coffee, chocolate and a lot of sweet hints like caramel, butterscotch and ripe fruit. The taste is a bit too sweet, molasses, raisins and soy. Not well balanced. Too bad the taste falls a bit short, it would be an excellent Imperial Stout otherwise.

UPDATED: JUL 9, 2016 Pours like oil with a medium size frothy khaki head, and great lacing. Smell is of cocoa, malt, alcohol, chock, and black licorice. Taste is strong, dark and milk chocolate, somewhat bitter, vanilla, licorice, earth, and malt. Ends smooth and strong.

Batch 003. Pours dark as Satanís heart. World class head volume, lacing and retention. Quite outstanding rich nose of molasses, caramel, dark fruits (plum, raisin), light roast and even lighter char and chocolate. Rich heavy full body that is very creamy and coats the tongue. World class carbonation / body balance that opens the complex flavors up. The middle is nicely effervescent and the finish hits just the right mark of prickliness. The flavor profile is quite outstanding and more complex than the nose. Had the alcohol remained completely covered, it would be world class. Char and roast lead with tobacco and leather lurking underneath. These add notes of coffee as the middle approaches. The middle is a rich sweet explosion of caramel and molasses that is balanced by a moderate bitterness derived from both roast and herbal hops. As the bitterness ebbs, plum and raisin arrive over bakers chocolate. The finish begins as a slow fade of mostly caramel but here alcohol comes uncovered...both in flavor and astringency. This astringency leaves a bit of heat and implied dryness. The lingering finish is that of astringent alcohol and prune.
