Few times in the history of craft beer it has happened that a highly praised beer rises beyond mortal stardom into a higher godly league. Usually the recipe to make such heavenly drops is thick fudge-like body, pitch black color, amazingly overwhelming aromas of chocolate, coffee, dark fruits and muscovado sugar, obviously only made in limited amounts and most crucial of all it must taste rare!

Bottle bought at Champanes, this impy had a dark brown-black pour and gave about a one finger dark brown colored head that receded to a thin layer with a couple of small open areas and nice ring, when swirled this beer looked thick, it left generous dark bubbled spots and small rings of lacing that eventually slid off the sides of the glass, the bottom of the bottle had a wide ring of spotted sediment that slowly swirled away when the bottle was tipped, the nose had intense roasted malt with burnt and/or smoke notes, some dark chocolate and coffee, and molasses and dark brown sugar sweetness, it had flavors of roasted malt with some coffee and dark chocolate, molasses and a little dark brown sugar, toasted dark bread notes in the background, the finish had roasted malt bitterness that balanced the sweetness in this beer, the roasted malt bitterness lingered on the palate, the mouth feel was creamy and coated the tongue, it was medium full on the palate and had soft to average carbonation, there was a touch of alcohol warmth on the throat after the sip, this beer had a very intense roasted malt nose and flavor, the roasted malt was out front and nice, I liked it, I found the roasted malt astringency and burnt like nuances to balance the sweetness, this was a very nice drink, if you like a big roasted malt impy, you will enjoy this drink.

Thick black pour with a nice dark tan head. Nose of chocolate, malt and dark fruit. Really nice flavor profile in this, skewing towards the sweet side, but saved with a nice bit of alcohol. Yummy!

Black, very rich nose. Lots of smoke, sugars, light fruitiness...intense almost bbq sauce character. So rich, syrupy character. Intense, maybe w/o nuance. So much sugar.

650ml bottle courtesy fo clt85. Thanks. Pours a dense black color with a small brown head that slowly recedes to a fine film. The aroma is robust with chocolates, molasses, raisins, dates and a bit o coffee. The taste features dark bitter chocolates, chocolate syrup, coffee and burnt toast. The palate is full, smooth and creamy with soft carbonation. Finishes long and dry. Overall: The perfect beer to drink on a Sunday! and, Ill probably go to hell for saying that.

Bottle. Pours pitch black with an unreal, large creamy chocolatey dark brown head. Aroma is rich, sweet chocolatey roasty. Dark roasty malty. Caramel. Milk chocolate. Dark chocolate. Hints of dark fruitiness. A sugariness that must be the muscovado. Creamy coffee. Big full body. Lusciously creamy. Smooooooth. Finishes sweet roasty chocolatey, very mild roasty bitterness, pleasant warming form alcohol but no booze. Very Sweet. Exceeded expectations. Decadent. Delicious. Amazing.

Perfumey smell, milk chocolate aroma. Also smells like a baked pie. Melted chocolate pour with nice brown edges. Great stout but misses depth, needs ageing or complexity from something else. Fantastic nonetheless.

Lovely creamy mouthfeel and the chocolate notes balance the large abv of this one. The only thing might be better is the barrel age or vanilla varants.
