COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Few times in the history of craft beer it has happened that a highly praised beer rises beyond mortal stardom into a higher godly league. Usually the recipe to make such heavenly drops is thick fudge-like body, pitch black color, amazingly overwhelming aromas of chocolate, coffee, dark fruits and muscovado sugar, obviously only made in limited amounts and most crucial of all it must taste rare!

Bottle. Jet black oily pour - quite viscous. Reddish brown head. Aroma and taste were roasty coffee, dark chocolate, some booze, and a hint of dark fruit. Full dense palate. Awesome beer!

Pours thick oily black with dark tan head. Robust aromas of smokey roasted grain, mocha, and some booze. The taste is rich and fruity under the roasted grain. Flavors of caramel apples, burnt figs, rich barley and sugary alcohol mingle well with a thick fudge like palate and heavy body. Big and bold flavors make the alcohol almost palatable but the booze is very up front. Really good imperial stout but the prominent boozy feel is distracting.

Bottle: Thanks Jan: Medium to bigger sized vast and slow disappearing brown head. The beers pour was already thick motoroil black and in the glass it looks beautiful: a black as night colored beer with a nice vast deep brown head. Smell cacoa, roasted barleys, coffee roast, espresso, dark chocolate, Taste lots of roast (roasted barleys, roasted coffee, roasted bitters), spicy, sticky, creamy, bitter, tar, creamy tar, a hint of something sweet like toffee/brown sugars, chocolate bitter tar drenched hops. Lovely balanced! Aftertaste is nice bitter, nice roast, hoppy grass notes, Low carbo, thick oily mouthfeel, full body and a thick oily sticky texture. Another great beer with a perfect mix between roast, bitter, cream and sticky darkness.

From the bottle at Big Beers and Barley Wines. Wow, this a phenomenal and way to easy drinking at 12ABV. Pours like 30 weight engine oil with a slick mouthfeel. Trends toward the sweet and fruity side but not cloying at all. Great beer. One of the stars of the show for me.

Scopey (6238) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 7, 2012
Bottle at Port Street Beer Bar, Manchester. It pours jet black, with a medium dark tan head. The nose is rich-roasted malt, coffee, tar, dark chocolate cake, sweet dark fruit and ash. The taste is roasted malt, ash, dark chocolate, treacle, gateaux, charcoal, coffee, underlying alcohol warmth, light acidity, decent bitterness, salted caramel and liquorice, with a warming finish. Full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Rich, smooth and flavoursome. Tasty.

11.2 ounce bottle. Served in a DFH snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch brown frothy head. Head retention and lacing are both pretty good. Aroma is nice, it smells like chocolate, roasted malt, dark fruit (cherries, raisins), coffee, dark bread, and some molasses. The brew tastes like milk and bittersweet chocolate, dark fruit, brown sugar, molasses, roasted malt, and coffee. This is a very sweet tasting brew! Its certainly one of the sweeter imperial stouts Ive had recently. Mouthfeel/body is full, its creamy and slick with moderate carbonation. I liked this brew a lot, its another one that I would definitely buy if I see it again. $9.99 a bottle.

On tap at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2012. A tan head of finger-thick size sits on top of a black body. The aroma has chocolate, some coffee, alcohol notes and some licorice hints. The flavor is roasted and bready, quite sweet, with chocolate and alcohol. Super smooth on the palate, full-bodied and warming, finishing with a roasted kind of bitterness and alcohol warmth that lasts. A tasteful beer, indeed, but a bit too heavy on the alcohol. 120511

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle. Aroma of licorice, dry roasted malts, hot alcohol. The flavors are chocolate, rich tobacco, sweet dark malts, slight caramel. A great stout, rich, a desert beer.

Deep black body, moderate sized khaki head, a few stray clumps of lacing Nose is chocolaty with some roast, caramel, molasses and brown sugar. Flavor is similar with a nice warm chocolate cake dynamic going on. Light roast some nice dark sweet malts. Full bodied, mellow carbonation.

11.2 oz bottle. Imperial Stout rating #300 and my #100 rated Danish brew. Inky brown with a stained tan head. Nose is chocolate, molasses, smoke and raisin. Medium to full body, chalky with a tang and some heat. Taste is rich mocha, prune and espresso. Finishes with citrus peel and quinine.
