Few times in the history of craft beer it has happened that a highly praised beer rises beyond mortal stardom into a higher godly league. Usually the recipe to make such heavenly drops is thick fudge-like body, pitch black color, amazingly overwhelming aromas of chocolate, coffee, dark fruits and muscovado sugar, obviously only made in limited amounts and most crucial of all – it must taste rare!

This is a good tasting beer. It is very dark and compact in its taste. Good balance.

Pour as black as death, with a nice small, creamy and brownie-brown head. Aroma is packed of roasted malts, chocolate, plenty of vanilla, coffee, seaweed, oatmeal, cookie dough, chocolate fudge. Plenty of delicious goodies in this one. The taste is pretty sweet upfront, with a slightly bitter and slightly dry aftertaste. Pretty darn full bodied, with an oily texture, and a pretty flat carbonation.

UPDATED: NOV 21, 2012 Bottle 33 cl. Oily and massively thick black with a reddish hue and a tiny orange-brown head. Aroma is sweet Finnish licorice, and dark fermented sugary prunes. Taste is sweet roast, thickend syrup and dark dried prunes, some tobacco accents. Massive body, low carbonation, no real bitterness, but a very big, long licoricy finnish. Exceptional!

UPDATED: DEC 27, 2013 Bottled. Pours a viscous black color with a medium plus sized reddish tan head that lasts with very spotty lacing. The aroma is big roasted malts, chocolate fudge, dark fruits, coffee, molasses with some alcohol at the edges. The flavor is big roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, molasses, dark fruits (cherry , blueberry, raisin) and some alcohol. Considering the 12% abv, this is pretty smooth and drinkable. Full bodied creamy mouth feel. Another excellent Imperial stout from Evil Twin.
