Few times in the history of craft beer it has happened that a highly praised beer rises beyond mortal stardom into a higher godly league. Usually the recipe to make such heavenly drops is thick fudge-like body, pitch black color, amazingly overwhelming aromas of chocolate, coffee, dark fruits and muscovado sugar, obviously only made in limited amounts and most crucial of all – it must taste rare!

Quite a powerful imperial stout here. Tons of strong flavors the most of which comes from roasty and ashy notes. rich nutty maltyness is there and provides nice flavors as well. If the roast was toned down a tad this would be world class, but still quite good.

UPDATED: AUG 17, 2012 $15 11.2 oz bottle. I don’t know who’s fucking me but it hurts. I don’t think im going to see charmcitycab rating this gem any time soon. This is as ashy as a beer can get. Thick and creamy with tons of charcoal.

Bottle split with mcberko. Pours a gorgeous solid black with a caramel tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts, some burnt espresso, and caramel notes. Flavour is intensely roasted yet also sweet in the right places, with hints of vanilla and plum. An exact collision of mcberko and my favourite aspects of a good Imp. Stout...he likes them intensely roasted, I like them a little sweeter. Wow. This is viscous, rich, creamy, smooth, beautifully balanced, perfect carbonation. Yum! Poured lightly chilled - I bet it is more flavourful a tad warmer - if I can make it last long enough! Rare :P

11.2 oz. bottle, pours pitch, silky black with a beautiful light brown head. Nose is rich and decadent, full of chocolate fudge, dark fruits, wood, burnt / caramelized sugar, and some burnt / roasted malt. Flavour is rich as fuck, with shitloads of very roasted--almost burnt--caramel malts, lots of sweet caramelized--again almost burnt--sugar, and slight hints of coffee. The high sweetness is out-competed by the burnt / roasted malts, leaving a highly roasted finish. ABV is almost completely hidden in these intense flavours. Body is thick, almost like syrup - super viscous and velvety. A bit sweeter than I would like, but also more roasted / burnt than ideal. Still, an excellent uber-decadent, extreme, over-the-top imperial stout.

Bottle. Very thick dark black pour, almost no carbonation, a little lacing and an aroma of rich dark chocolate syrup and plums/raisins. Flavor is burnt toast, very bitter bakers chocolate, some coffee and a little bit of smoke peat and a little vegetal soy sauce. Good? Yes. Not $15/bottle good though.

Pours thick unclear oil black coffee with a beautiful creamy burnt caramel lightly cinnamon head. The aroma brings smoke, sweet hazelnuts, roasted malts, and dark fruits. The flavor brings sweet brown sugary malt flavors with a bit of cocoa and coffee as well. Delicious on a big creamy body tasting smooth more like 9% not 12%!

Bottle @ CPK. Pours deep brown with a creamy tan head. The nose is loads of milk chocolate, brown sugar, and espresso. The taste is fudge, scorched espresso beans with a moderate kick of grassy hops on the long finish. Really nicely balanced while maintaining a big flavor profile. Not overly sweet of palate-destroying. Very enjoyable.
