Few times in the history of craft beer it has happened that a highly praised beer rises beyond mortal stardom into a higher godly league. Usually the recipe to make such heavenly drops is thick fudge-like body, pitch black color, amazingly overwhelming aromas of chocolate, coffee, dark fruits and muscovado sugar, obviously only made in limited amounts and most crucial of all – it must taste rare!

11.2 oz bottle. Imperial Stout rating #300 and my #100 rated Danish brew. Inky brown with a stained tan head. Nose is chocolate, molasses, smoke and raisin. Medium to full body, chalky with a tang and some heat. Taste is rich mocha, prune and espresso. Finishes with citrus peel and quinine.

12 oz. bottle. It pours like a 12% imperial stout should...extremely heavy, dark brown with a brown head that builds slowly and then collapses rather quickly. The aroma has lots of molasses and prunes with some supporting chocolate, coffee and hints of black licorice. The flavor has tons of prunes, raisins, molasses and some burnt malt in the finish. Body is overwhelmingly thick and syrupy. It finishes with a dirty, burnt bitterness. A bit too much, but I can’t say I didn’t enjoy it.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dagan’s place. Thanks avrashi. Black, opaque with a drak tan ring, roast, ink, soy sauce and sea salt aroma. Umami taste, soy, salty, with very bitter undertones. Sleek texture, salty finish, full body. Really good.

12 ounce bottle picked up in Boise at Bier 30. Cost about 13 bucks! Pours a pure black color with a medium very dark brown/red color, actually an amazing color with the head. A big nose of smoke, fudge, roast, coffee, milk, hops. A huge flavor of hot alcohol, coffee, huge dark fruit, smoked bacon, more dark chocolate and fruit. Cadberry for sure. Awesome. Nice to celebrate Christ with a Imperial Stout.

Sampled bottle at GBF 2012. Pitch black thick liquid with a brown head. Aroma: chocolate, licorice and toffee, but the finer nuances escape me. Taste: huge, sweet licorice, roasted, cocoa powder, chocolate liqueur, toffee and some more goodies. Full-bodied, sticky. Wowee, this was tasty! I’ll try to get a bottle or two.
