Few times in the history of craft beer it has happened that a highly praised beer rises beyond mortal stardom into a higher godly league. Usually the recipe to make such heavenly drops is thick fudge-like body, pitch black color, amazingly overwhelming aromas of chocolate, coffee, dark fruits and muscovado sugar, obviously only made in limited amounts and most crucial of all – it must taste rare!

Bottle. Very thick dark black pour, almost no carbonation, a little lacing and an aroma of rich dark chocolate syrup and plums/raisins. Flavor is burnt toast, very bitter bakers chocolate, some coffee and a little bit of smoke peat and a little vegetal soy sauce. Good? Yes. Not $15/bottle good though.

Pours thick unclear oil black coffee with a beautiful creamy burnt caramel lightly cinnamon head. The aroma brings smoke, sweet hazelnuts, roasted malts, and dark fruits. The flavor brings sweet brown sugary malt flavors with a bit of cocoa and coffee as well. Delicious on a big creamy body tasting smooth more like 9% not 12%!

Bottle @ CPK. Pours deep brown with a creamy tan head. The nose is loads of milk chocolate, brown sugar, and espresso. The taste is fudge, scorched espresso beans with a moderate kick of grassy hops on the long finish. Really nicely balanced while maintaining a big flavor profile. Not overly sweet of palate-destroying. Very enjoyable.

Tap at the Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2012. Pours a miraculously thick black, oily, with a small, brown cap. Rich cocoa nose with burnt toast, some booze and smokey wood. Great flavor, very rich, with lots of dark chocolate, charred wood, chocolate syrup, baking cocoa, a bit of hard alcohol and some off-setting earthy bitterness. Very well balanced impy stout. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Some warmth to finish with lots more dark cocoa and some lasting scorched wood. Excellent beer overall.

Bottle at Bishops Folkungagatan. Pours heavy black with a very small brown head. Sweet chcolatey taste with some soy and rosted malt. Heavy brew. Would probably have apreciated it more in october than july...

The pour is black in color with a small tan head. Not a big fan on the nose. heavy on char, smoke, and roasted malt. A bit of alcohol, too. Some burnt sugar and mild dark chocolate. The flavor is also quite smokey and charred, maybe some ash. Burnt sugar, licorice, and molasses give a bit of sweetness. Lots of coffee and a bit of dark chocolate.
