Few times in the history of craft beer it has happened that a highly praised beer rises beyond mortal stardom into a higher godly league. Usually the recipe to make such heavenly drops is thick fudge-like body, pitch black color, amazingly overwhelming aromas of chocolate, coffee, dark fruits and muscovado sugar, obviously only made in limited amounts and most crucial of all – it must taste rare!

Bottle. Pours oily black with lasting thick average dark brown head, Aroma is roasted and dark malts, chocolate, molasses. Taste is heavy sweet, light+ bitter. Body is full, texture is thick and smooth, carbonation is average. Finishes malty with some bitterness. Impressive brew . it is so balanced and light bitter, a rich malty taste with that high ABV . Even people who don’t care for stout dig this one.

330ml bottle, shared with Gunnar and larsga at Schouskjelleren. Body is black as the devil. Tiny, tan-coloured head. Dark malty aroma with wood, anise and integrated alcohol. Dark bread, dark spices and bitter liquorice can be spotted in a powerful taste character. Dark roasted bitter ending supported by warming alcohol lingering all the way to Håndverkerstuene. Full body, velvety in the mouth. Very pleasant (Oslo, 10.12.2012).

Tämä hauskasti nimetty Evil Twinin tuote kaatuu lasiin mustana muodostaen kauniin, tumman ruskean vaahdon. Kauniimman näköistä olutta on vaikea kuvitella. Olut tuoksuu tummalle suklaalle, paahtuneelle maltaalle ja kahville. Maku on tumman suklainen, paahtunut, katkera ja kahvinen. Olut on paksua ja öljyistä. Hiilihappoisuus on hyvin keskivertoa. Herkullinen jälkiruoka olut.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours black in color with a thin beige head, looks a bit like you were pouring motor oil. Appearance reminds of Bourbon County Stout. Cold coffee with some more sweeter elements, perhaps some slightly burnt brown sugar in aroma and some dark bread. There’s something harsh in aroma, can’t really describe it but it’s slightly off putting anyway. Oily. Flavor has some coffee and roasted malts, some faint hints of smoke and burnt wood or ash is also found in taste. Sticky mouthfeel. No sign of the alcohol. Bitter dark chocolate, some notes of hops and vanilla in aftertaste. Has a long finish of some roasted coffee and is slightly bittersweet as well.

Shared bottle at Schoukjelleren, Oslo. Pours black with no head at all. Aroma is dark malty red ripe fruits, charcoal and chocolate. Taste is deep malty, with some tobacco and liquorice blending in, sweet lingering dark light roasted caramel lingering all the way. Full bodied, oily mouthfeel, Jesus is good for some, this beer is better for me. Did i say this one was a hit !

Bottle. Poured black color with a moderate creamy light brown head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Medium to heavy toasted sweet chocolate malt with a small alcohol aroma. Full body with a creamy texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy balanced toasted chocolate malt flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of long duration. This is a standout beer.

Bottle. Pours a pitch black color with a dark tan head. Aroma is filled with dark bitter chocolate, vanilla, tobacco, coffee, roasted malt, burnt notes, brownie like fudge, dark fruits like raisins and figs, sugar notes and dark caramel. The flavor follows the nose and is fairly sweet, again lots of bitter dark chocolate, cocoa nips, tobacco, vanilla, roasted malt, coffee, burnt notes, dark fruits again raisins and figs, sugar, dark caramel and the brownie like fudge. The body is full with a creamy mouth feel. Overall all a great Imperial Stouts, one of the best Danish Imperial Stouts out there right now. I need this barrel aged!!!!
