Few times in the history of craft beer it has happened that a highly praised beer rises beyond mortal stardom into a higher godly league. Usually the recipe to make such heavenly drops is thick fudge-like body, pitch black color, amazingly overwhelming aromas of chocolate, coffee, dark fruits and muscovado sugar, obviously only made in limited amounts and most crucial of all – it must taste rare!

W aromacie sporo słodkiej czekolady, pralinek, paloności, toffee. W smaku słodko z lekką goryczką. Niestety trochę wychodzi alkohol.

16oz can poured at home - can had "Batch #004" on the bottom. Honestly, not a lot of aroma - some dark chocolate. Nothing overwhelming. Super dark pour - very motor oil like with a thick creamy head. Very smooth for such a big beer - although I think hype gives it its 100 rating and not the taste or flavor. Still a solid beer, just don’t think it is worthy of the 100 rating.

Pitch black with almost no head. Complex tastes of milk chocolate, bacon, fudge and brown sugar. Heavy body, good carbonation and a good finish of sweet chocolate. Fantastic sweet chocolate stout.

Rating a canned version. Thick oily pour. Rich nose. Lots of milk chocolate. Tastes like cake. Just great really. The original idea the series has got it going on.

Sample at a tasting. Really dark big roast, grassy, a bit peated with burnt rubber notes. Not that fruity. Rich chocolate and molasses sweetness with a good smooth grassy bitter finish. Smooth mouthfeel with spicy warming alcohol. Really good.

Poured from 16 oz. can. Opaque, near-black with a with a 3-finger brown head and very good lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, dried figs, dates and toffee. Taste of chocolate syrup, roasted malt, dark chocolate, black figs and alcohol. Full body and medium carbonation with a downright chewy mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle to glass - Pours jet black with a thin, wispy cappuccino head. Aroma is dark, roasty chocolate, deep florals, notes of chocolate. A much more sweet chocolate comes out on the tongue, chocolate cake, some raisin, a sharp lactose, with a hoppy edge. Full bodied with a slightly dry and sharp finish.
