Few times in the history of craft beer it has happened that a highly praised beer rises beyond mortal stardom into a higher godly league. Usually the recipe to make such heavenly drops is thick fudge-like body, pitch black color, amazingly overwhelming aromas of chocolate, coffee, dark fruits and muscovado sugar, obviously only made in limited amounts and most crucial of all – it must taste rare!

Black color with small brownish head. Aroma of chocolate, dark fruits, wood, so complex. Taste is amazing! Sour and smokey at the tip of your tounge, then it gets sweet in your mouth and when you swallow it its bitter and nicely salty, this beer have everything you want from a big beer.Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. You should try this beer

Poured from bottle into a snifter Appearance – The beer pours a pitch black color with a one finger head of tan colored foam. The head fades over a slow amount of time leaving a great level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the brew is massive of a coffee and caramelized sugar smell with a very strong showing of chocolate and vanilla giving an overall rather nice mocha like smell. Along with these aromas comes smells of a good deal of roasted malt and some aromas of a more crčme like smell, producing a rich and tasty smelling sweet mocha espresso smell. Taste – The taste starts out strong with sweet chocolate and coffee flavor infused with a good deal of caramel sweetness. As the flavors advance creamy tastes come to the tongue with flavors of crčme and vanilla both entering the taste profile. Along with these comes even more espresso with a strong showing of some candied sugar and a bit of a more molasses and a bit more burnt sugar/caramel taste. Some very light dark fruit flavors of plum and raisin peek their way into the taste, but in comparison to the other flavors, these are super light. In the end the mix of very light booze, chocolate, sugars and coffee ends up leaving a delicious and rich coffee infused chocolate cake flavor to linger on the tongue. Oh so satisfying!! Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is super thick and creamy with a carbonation level that is on the lower side. The super thick body is fantastic for all the very roasted and dark as well as sweet flavors of the brew and mixed with the lighter carbonation create a thick and mouthcoating feel that baths the tongue in all the glorious and rich flavors of the beer. Overall - This is one damn fine and rich imperial stout with tons of chocolate cake and coffee like flavors which coupled with the big rich flavors of the brew make for a very nice sipping stout.

"Borders on the edge of too extreme, but styas on the right side. Great example of a beer that would have been too much at 14, 15, 16%, but at 12%, it was absolutely fabulous in every way. Dessert leaning though it not oversweet. Huge complex aroma and flavor of chocolate, cofee, dark fruit, licorice, roast...nice bittersweet aftertaste. Very vinous and thick. Even the head is dark. Awesome beer!!"

Sample at Aces & Ales Tenaya. Inky black color with a medium tan head that diminishes gradually. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of coffee, malt and dark fruit. Full-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, roasted coffee and figs. The finish is roasty with a chocolate malt and vanilla aftertaste. Solid all around.

Found this one hiding in the cellar. Very pleasantly surprised at how rich this is. Chocolate vanilla and dark fruits. Good sweetness. Aroma is like a melted cherry chocolate bar. Flavor has a bit of cocoa and a milky texture. Finish is like melted chocolate ice cream. Smooth and bittersweet. Delicious.

Pours an inky black with a dark brown head, nearly as thick as oil. Aromas of chocolate, coffee, currants and roasted make. Thick mouthfeel with coffee, chocolate, dark fruits and a sugary aftertaste with just a touch of alcohol. Almost tastes like its been barrel aged. Excellent beer.
