COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Few times in the history of craft beer it has happened that a highly praised beer rises beyond mortal stardom into a higher godly league. Usually the recipe to make such heavenly drops is thick fudge-like body, pitch black color, amazingly overwhelming aromas of chocolate, coffee, dark fruits and muscovado sugar, obviously only made in limited amounts and most crucial of all – it must taste rare!

THOUGHTS: Could smell this one the second the first hiss escaped from the bottle as I began to pry the cap off. Hid alcohol very well for the high ABV. It was noticeable but not at all harsh. Very intense but rather smooth. Even better tasting as it warmed. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured an opaque black with a small, light brown head that was almost reddish and nearly fully diminished. The aroma had heavy roasted malts, coffee, chocolate syrup and very dark chocolate; hints of banana; raisin; prune; cherry;port; hints of smoke and wood; light alcohol; and dark fruits. The initial flavor was moderate to heavily sweet, and slightly bitter and acidic; while the finish was heavily sweet, moderately bitter and ever so slightly sour. There was chocolate syrup, dark chocolate, dark fruit, hints of bacon, alcohol, prune, raisin, roasted malt, coffee, cherry dark fruit, and burnt malt. The full body was oily and sticky on the lips with soft yet rather tingly carbonation and a slightly alcoholic finish.

On tap growler fill because if you local gas station already has Alesmith Hammerhead on tap, it might as well keep things balanced out by having this on at the same time. Poured black, very dark brown head. Aroma of espresso and chocolate. Flavor matched. As it warmed, some dark fruit notes slowly emerged. But in a sense, it was a bit one note. Just a very good note.

Gluepot (358) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 17, 2016
On tap at the ChurckKey, DC. A thin tan head on a near black body. Nose has some bourbon, malt and some sourness. The weakest IS from Evil Twin I have had, by a long shot. The taste has a definite sourness, chocolate, bitterness and a slight burnt edge. Booziness is definitely a lead taste element. But it is thin (as opposed to having a "thick fudge-like body") and disappointing. Bad Keg?

Pours black oily color, like motor oil, with foamy tan brown head. Aroma: rich darj roasted malt aroma, with notes of espresso coffee, bittersweet chocolate, cocoa nibs, molasses, burnt sugar, cherry wine, port wine...flavor is even more intense: dark roasted malts flavor, which takes on dark bittersweet chocolate, espresso coffee, vanilla nibs, molasses, burnt sugar, port wine, cocoa beans...finish is roasted and slightly sticky dry. Body is full, texture is soft, carbonation low. Massive attack!

UPDATED: APR 28, 2016 Tap@Taphouse. Pours black with small Brown head. Aroma of green fruit and smoke, with a winey character. Taste is sweet, with roasted malt, dried fruit, molasses, chocolate and vanilla. Taste ends in sweet, complex and chocolate taste. Mouthfeel is rich with some alcohol. A bit too sweet for my taste in imp.
