4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
THOUGHTS: Could smell this one the second the first hiss escaped from the bottle as I began to pry the cap off. Hid alcohol very well for the high ABV. It was noticeable but not at all harsh. Very intense but rather smooth. Even better tasting as it warmed.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured an opaque black with a small, light brown head that was almost reddish and nearly fully diminished. The aroma had heavy roasted malts, coffee, chocolate syrup and very dark chocolate; hints of banana; raisin; prune; cherry;port; hints of smoke and wood; light alcohol; and dark fruits. The initial flavor was moderate to heavily sweet, and slightly bitter and acidic; while the finish was heavily sweet, moderately bitter and ever so slightly sour. There was chocolate syrup, dark chocolate, dark fruit, hints of bacon, alcohol, prune, raisin, roasted malt, coffee, cherry dark fruit, and burnt malt. The full body was oily and sticky on the lips with soft yet rather tingly carbonation and a slightly alcoholic finish.

I’ve had this before, but this is the first time I pick up a little smoke in the taste. the aroma is like some super rich sick choco bomb dessert. Flavor’s like nose plus has just enough bitter and tang to balance the sweet and round the palate. A masterpiece. Slurp.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
First time having the base stout of so many other beers I’ve already rated. Bomber enjoyed solo at 50 Degrees F in a stemmed glass.
totally oily pitch black in the glass. a 3 finger amaretto colored head formed and faded to a thin line of espresso crema. A roast bomb with sweetened milk, tootsie roll and worthers butter candies. Oily mouthfeel and a total booze bomb. You taste every single aspect of the 12% alcohol with sharp grain alcohol finish and burnt day-old coffee in the middle to finish. up front, there is this chocolate milk candy sweetness that quickly fades to the ashy burnt coffee taste. Most of the variants have been great but this isn’t working for me.

Taste is of liquorice, dark chocolate, caramel, biscuits, dark fruits, black currant, hint of alcohol on the finish. Sticky, chewy oily mouthfeel, medium carbonation. Lovely.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bomber from Benz. Oily black, thin brown head. Lots of chocolate, wood, carmel and a touch of anise, all wrapped up in a sherry-like sweetness. Alcohol is there, but not too much for as big as this beer is.

Tap. Black with minimal head. Smoky and complex with loads of chocolate. Underlying tobacco. Very smooth despite the ABV.
