(bottle) hazy golden colour with a frothy white head. aroma of sweatsocks and peaches, heavily resinous, with a touch of herbal hops, some wax and strawberries. flavour is mostly bubble gum and caramel, again quite resinous, with a hint of sugar icing, some gooseberries and a touch of alcohol in the finish. medium- to heavy-bodied with soft carbonation.

Greenish hued gold for the color. A bit of a chill haze. Moderate head but it leaves several large spots on the glass. More earthy nose than most IPAs. I detect some cream as well. What is missing, though, is a strong floral hop presence. Rather pedestrian for the style. The flavor is beautifully balanced, especially for the style. Here, the hop is more pronounced, but the malt base is solid. The aftertaste is neutrally bitter but not biting. The aftertaste is long lasting and more balanced than most IPAs. Highly carbonated, but with an average level of body. Overall, an easy-to-drink IPA with interesting notes throughout the tasting.

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2015 12oz bottle. Very pale cloudy gold. Frothy thin head.Attractive lacing. Aroma is really sophisticated hop character. Flavors are equaly sophisticated and complex. A little grassy, a little citrusy, a little resiny. Really nice.

Bottle: The aroma consists of citrus, orange marmalade, caramel, and aged citrus hops. It pours a hazy golden-orange with a two finger white head that fades to a thick soapy film outlined by a thicker ring. There is a good amount of soapy lacing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate citrus and orange marmalade. There is some caramel in the middle. The finish has aged citrus hops, grapefruit, and some lemon. It’s light-medium bodied with light-moderate carbonation and a somewhat soft mouthfeel. Overall, this has probably sat on the shelf too long...but it’s probably a realistic expectation of what you’ll find on the shelves in Michigan. Even though I know it’s old, it manages to hold up better than most shelf-sitting IPAs and is at least still decent.
