A steady pour into my teku glass produces a three finger thick, light tan colored head. The beer is a nice amber color that shows a clear, nice copper hue when held up to the light. The aroma smells of tropical fruit up front with a slightly musty backdrop. A more focused look at the nose yields an interesting, not quite peppery, Brett induced spiciness, as well as fruit notes that remind me of peaches, lychee, kumquat zest, fresh grapefruit juice, and just a huge, ripe citrus zest character in general. There is also a touch of supporting pine-needle character, and a light herbal character here, and there is a suggestion of hay like, and perhaps pale-cracker like grain.

The beer is bitter, dry, and has a prickly, peppery carbonation to it from the get go. This is quite light bodied and quaffable, though also quite dry. It is not so dry though that the bright, fruit-laden hop character does not play a dominant role; flavors of kumquat zest, tangelo zest, some floral citrus / peach notes, a bit of guava, some lychee, and perhaps even a bit of funky mango. The Brett character in the flavor leans towards a supporting role with slightly musty notes, it adds to the spiciness of the hops, has a soft, supporting musty note, and a bit of a phenolic bite to it as well.

This is a pretty nice beer, it definitely plays a nice mix of exuberant hop notes, with supporting, Brettanomyces character; this has significantly dried out the beer, but hasn’t gotten super funky at all.

Bomber. Pours a cloudy orange hue with a very large white head. A big funky fruity nose. The brett is very light, subtle, amazing that this is 100% brett, it folds easily into the citrus spicy hops. Lemons, some soft tropical fruit. Yeasty for sure, more like a hefe. Lovely beer.

2015-08-16. Hazy dark pastel yellow body with a small off white head and light lace. 3+ Aroma has citrus notes, fruit and moderate funk. Flavour is interesting, moderate dusty bretty funk character up front, mildly sweet pale malt and some nice fruit character. It finishes quite dry with a quick lightly astringent lemon note. Smooth average bodied palate, moderate carbonation. On tap at Coles, Buffalo.

Very enjoyable. Pours a supremely murky orange with a brown tinge, thick beige head leaves tons of lacing. The aroma is tart with lemons and orange rind up front, grainy and toasted malt notes and light funk. Tart lemons and hints of spice and fruity esters. Lemon tartness throughout with the brett making an appearance in the aftertaste. Mild hop bitterness with a bit of stonefruit and grapefruit coming in mid palate. An interesting brew!

650ml bottle pours a hazy golden orange color with a generous white head that retains well and leaves some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is lemon and yeast with some grainy notes. Taste is a lemon tartness with hints of yeast, grains and funk. Taste is a lemon tartness with a citrus hop bitterness and a malty sweetness. Grainy mouth feel. Light to medium body with generous carbonation. Overall, a pretty well crafted IPA with bretts.

Taste at Thirsty Monk during sour beer week. Intrigued enough to shell out the $$ for a bottle. Hazy yellow pour. Less in-yo-face than I expected. Nicely balanced between the funk and the bright NZ hops. Definite lemon and tart apple flavors stand out. Ends up being somewhat subdued- but in a classy way. Fairly dry and crisp. Pour was too warm so will have to bring some home and have a proper tasting.
