4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 RoyalFlushing (307) - Mamaroneck, New York, USA - JAN 26, 2013Bottle pours a thick murky peach with a thin white head that dissapated quickly and excellent lacing. Aroma is an awesome, enormous blend of tropical fruit, passion fruit, and Brett. Taste begins with big citrus followed by enjoyable tart flavor, subtle peach and mango, before a Brett finish. Tropical and funk flavors linger.

Poured into an ISO Tasting glass from a bottle.
Smell: Slight citrus/pine, hop aroma is underwhelming. Barnyard and cheesy umami smells from the brett are overwhelming. Slightly musty. Has "complexity" but is overall strange and underwhelming.
Appearance: Super opaque and hazy, 4ish SRM, white head has a moderate retention. Pretty poor lacing.
Taste: Black pepper spice, the brett barnyard/umami funk from the nose is highly present. Hop presence is pretty underwhelming and leaves me to say this doesn’t belong in the IPA category. Aftertaste reminds me of eating a sharp, old, funky hard cheese.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body, medium-low carbonation. Astringent and cheesy lingering mouthfeel.
Overall: Entirely disappointed by this beer. Came highly recommended but lacks any idea of subtlety or complexity. 100% brett can probably be done well, but this is not that beer. Comes across as eating a strong sharp cheddar, which seems cool and novel at first, but becomes cloying before finishing your first glass.

Cheers to Ben at Sam’s Quik Shop for the birthday beer. Pours a bright golden, slightly hazy with a thin white head. Nose is citrusy but backed up by some lovely brett, farmhouse, hay, funk and acetic notes. Easy drinking and refreshing as hell.

Botttle. Poured a yellow color with huge (well pours all head) head. Not a gusher, but some spray when opened. Again, pours all head and takes a while to settle into something I can drink Aromas of spices, some fruitiness, and brett. Tastes of citrus, fruits, the same spiciness, and some funkiness. Flat body.

On tap at Smoke and Barrel DC. The keg kicked and the bartender gave me maybe 3oz of the last pour. Great guys there. Pours a cloudy, bright gold with some wispy white head. Surprised with a big, floral, hop aroma, citrus peel, pine, some soap, a little grape, some malt too, tropical fruit, a little musty. Flavor is very similar, sweet, but mostly zippy hops, lemon, orange, scallion, chive, perhaps the brett is manifested in some grassiness. Slightly bitter, crisp, dry finish. Really nice. Very drinkable.

Bottle. Hazy yellow with a medium sized good lacing white head. Smells pretty crisp and hoppy. Juicy yellow apples, leathery brett, barnyard, and citrus in the aroma. Taste is medium sweet and medium bitter. Medium body, oily texture, soft/medium carbonation. Light dry and bitter finish. High drinkability.

On tap at Torst. This has an unusual mix of elements. Excellent meadow-like aroma. It tastes like an APA with a little brett sourness, pink grapefruit, and a dash of brine. Good.
