COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Did you also at some point in your life get seduced by promising words like ’probably the best in the world’, ’it works every time’ etc.? This American Barley Wine Ale says it how it is. It’s intense, attention seekingly hoppy, and definitely your kind of beer. A beer with a big ego, drive and a huge thirst for recognition.

Bottle. The colour is dark orange. Weak, unstable white head. The aroma is very sweet, malty, with notes of American hops, mostly citrus. The taste is sweet, malty with medium-high bitterness.

A dark copper coloured beer with an off white head. Intensive aroma with notes of dried fruits, banana, biscuit. Oily texture, soft carbonation. Malty taste with a long bittersweet aftertaste.

Kolor: Ciemna miedź. Piwo jest dobrze opalizujące.
Piana: Kremowa. Drobne pęcherzyki. Wytrwale utrzymuje się na powierzchni. Perfekcyjnie zdobi TeKu.
Wraz z aromatami owoców tropikalnych i cytrusowych podążają ciemne owoce. Żywica oraz trochę karmelu nadchodzi niespodziewanie i przyjemnie drażni nos.
Smak: Dużo owocowych estrów. Owoce tropikalne i cytrusy, następnie ciemne owoce: jeżyny, czarne jagody, śliwki, rodzynki. Alkohol chwilami potrafi uderzyć do głowy.

Bottle at home. Aroma is biscuit malt, caramel, candied fruits, tropical notes, resinous hops, dried fruits, grapefruit. Flavour is medium sweet with a potent long bittersweet finish. Slightly boozy. Body is full. Nicely fruity hoppy American-style Barley Wine, rich and tasty

Aroma is fruity and toffee-like but also some red berries and raisins. Taste is surprisingly alert and fresh for a barley. Red berries and hops together with slight alcohol. A really energetic Barley Wine.

Cloudy brown with a thin foam. Spicy hop aroma and a slight sweetness that I find quite pleasant. Body is moderately sweet, caramel, and spice. Finish lasts a while reminding me of those hops. Good beer.

Drank with Bram at my room during Stukafest Nijmegen 02/02/16. Nice barely wine, lots of taste. Not that complex but good.

Bottle at Monday Club Erzbierschof. Thick and heavy, some dirty farmhouse aroma, followed by an overpowered and not particularly balanced.

For once, this is a hopped up American-style Barleywine that still legitimately seems like an actual Barleywine instead of an IPA. With Freudian Slip, the toffee and butterscotch malt notes come through just as much as the bitter, tea-like hop notes. There are some dark fruit sensations, also. Freudian Slip is full-bodied without being overwhelmingly heavy. I could leave that last sentence the way it is, but this beer is called Freudian Slip, so I can’t help but think the closing line should be far more euphemistic. It’s a mouthful, but nothing you can’t handle.
