Did you also at some point in your life get seduced by promising words like ’probably the best in the world’, ’it works every time’ etc.? This American Barley Wine Ale says it how it is. It’s intense, attention seekingly hoppy, and definitely your kind of beer. A beer with a big ego, drive and a huge thirst for recognition.

Bottle. Brown colour, hazy, small white head. Aroma is lots of red fruit (strawberry, raspberry), fig, herbal hops on finish. Alcohol is warming, but does not disturb. Sorry, I don’t feel any pine or grapefruit. Quite strong bitterness. Full body, but not heavy, soft carbonation. Very good.

Small cream head over hazy foxy brown beer. New World hops with orange/mandarine/grapefruit aromas. Bit cheesy too. Sweet-smelling caramel, cakebottom, maltsyrup. Bitter-sweetish flavours. Again wafflesyrup, oranges, mandarines, citruspeel. Pineapple too, if less sweet - sweetness hardly increasing warming up, BTW. Medium bodied only, well-carbonated. Hopoils forming the textures. Good Barley Wine, no doubt, but the MF is a bit lacking.

Bottle, waited for its turn for a while. Pours mahogany with nice white head. Aroma of dried fruits, caramel, nice and cimplex malt profile. In taste medium sweet, caramel, fruits and solid bitterness inthe finish. Full bodied, softly carbonated, alcohol well hidden. Nice and fruity.

Shared 12 oz. bottle. Medium amber with light beige head. Sweet malty aroma, along with alcohol, caramel and toffee. Fairly boozy, and a bit too sweet. Not getting much from the hops.

Aroma: piney and hoppy like an IPA; Appearance: amber with fluffy head that dissipates quickly; Taste: interesting blend of hops with malty sweetness with fairly strong alcohol taste; Palate: medium-heavy body; short, bitter finish; Overall: was apprehensive of a barley wine but really is like a stronger version of a normal beer; very enjoyable; would buy again.
