COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Did you also at some point in your life get seduced by promising words like ’probably the best in the world’, ’it works every time’ etc.? This American Barley Wine Ale says it how it is. It’s intense, attention seekingly hoppy, and definitely your kind of beer. A beer with a big ego, drive and a huge thirst for recognition.

Bottle shared with (and courtasy of) The Bergen tasting crew, and Gunnar. Has a hazy dark brown colour with a medium beige head. Lots of hops in a fruity aroma with the addition of dried fruit, pine and rye. A lot of malt in the flavour and more powerful hops as well, almost herbal with grass and pine. The mouthfeel is soft and slick, and has a medium bitterness. A very nice ale! I also understand that there’s a huge difference between an English barley wine and an American one. This is closer to a DIPA.

Dark amber, ruby, hazy, minimal off-white foam, lots of hops (fruits), caramel, some alcohol, high bitterness, medium+ sweetness; full body, oily, little alcoholic feel, average carbonation, long bittersweet finish Overall: Mighty brew, alcohol a bit too noticeable

Tap. Pours dark amber, slight murky, with one finger beige head. Aroma is sweet toffee. Loads of dried fruits, raisins, figs, some honey, toasty malts, caramel, burnt sugar. Some interesting tobacco in there and boozy port notes. Taste is al the same, sweet, toffee, caramel, toasty malt, dried fruits, port. Bit sugary body, low carbonation and port. Dry toasty boozy alcohol in finish, bit too present. Could use some aging i think, something interesting going on.

Ótima cerveja. Bom aroma adocicado. Não é perceptível os 10% de teor alcoolico. Leve amargor. Predomina o doce. Se tivesse maior drinkability, seria perfeita.

Nose says - youll get a hop bomb with some caramel malty boost.. taste says - here you go. Only I would like bit more malty backup otherwise.. its awesome. After some time it becomes more balanced - no need to change anything. Intense fruitiness, citrus grapefruit, peach, grapefruit, resin, caramel. Moderate sweetish with bitterness and bittersweet finish. Most interesting that theres 3 parts of taste - straightforward sweet, straightforward bitter and mixed up bittersweet ONLY in finish. Very likeable brew!

Hoppy-caramel aroma. Quite nice but not ballanced with taste. Taste - hoppy, with some hints of raisins. Decent barley wine

It’s a damn American barley wine with principals. Those principals ultimately lead it astray, as it finishes hella bitter and ruins the nice opening citrus salvos with caramelly sweetness, but it’s an ok enough beer before it reaches the second half of the palate.

A good barley wine, not too sweet. Hop like finish is an unpleasant surprise (for me)
