COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Did you also at some point in your life get seduced by promising words like ’probably the best in the world’, ’it works every time’ etc.? This American Barley Wine Ale says it how it is. It’s intense, attention seekingly hoppy, and definitely your kind of beer. A beer with a big ego, drive and a huge thirst for recognition.

2012.08.07 - on tap at Always Ron's. Pours a ruby copper with thin white head. Aroma very nondescript to my nose. Taste is fleeting, off the taste buds as fast as it was on. Mouthfeel very smooth, almost "flat", little carbonation. For a barley wine, this is very smooth and hides the alcohol well.

Draft pour into a snifter. Hop forward taste is unexpected but not bad. Carb level is also unexpected. It's definitely a unique barleywine!

12 oz bottle, 3 months old. Pour ruby-brown with a small head that fades to a ring. Some some webbing grabs the glass a little. Aromas are vanilla, cherries, plums, citrus, light pine, and light caramel. Taste brings out much more pine and citrus than the aroma. Lots of hops up front and finishes with some light cherry candy and vanilla. Finish is fairly bitter and dry. High carbonation stings the tongue a little. Surprisingly a bit thin for a 10% barley wine. It’s decent. Alcohol taste shows up big in the finish when it starts to warm.

12 oz bottle. Pours a reddish amber, light haze, with an off-white head. Citrusy aroma with some sweetness and malt depth. Citrusy flavor with floral pine, some malty sweetness and a very slight onion note that’s not really distracting at all. It’s pretty good really, but my only complaint is that it doesn’t really have the body I expect for a barley wine.

Bottle pour. Very smooth with cherry and plum. Has a hoppy, slightly boozy fruit flavor. Long sweet finish. Very good.

On tap. Ruby dark brown, thin head some lacing. Nice sweet nose, wine notes, pleasant alcohol warming, long deep finish. Yumm!

Hazy ruby pour - very hoppy nose - juicy grapefruit, pine, sherry/light oxidation, toffee - flavors of toffee, cherry, sherry, strong citric and woody hops - mostly american in character, but a bit of treacle, mineral, and earth that is a bit british in character - warming finish, but not too hot - pretty good.

12 ounce bottle from World Wine. Woody hop chocolate and a little gluey aroma. Caramel and ripe fruit and a little chocolate with assertive piney resiney hops just bordering on astringency. Medium full body. Fairly high carbo. Good.

Pours a deep amber with one finger of off white head. Aroma is lots of citrus hops. Flavor is more hops and candy like malt with a firm bitterness. Finishes nice and dry. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nice fine foamy head. Relatively clear body the color of a dark orange sunset. Aroma of oranges. Hoppy, but not resiny which is nice. Bitterness lingers on palate. Mouthfeel is just right. Slight warming after the fact. Reminds me of a cross between Bigfoot and Arogant Bastard. Wish it wasn?t so darn expensive.

[5223-20130412] 1pt6floz bottle. Grainy toasted fruity malt aroma has a bit of an oven-fresh melted steel note. Hazy, dark amber brown body with a medium-lasting creamy off-white head. Boozy resin fruity malt flavour has a long sweet malt aftertaste. Medium-full body. Great balance, one of the best barley wines I’ve tried but it’s not my favourite style. (7/3+/8/3/14) 3.5
