Did you also at some point in your life get seduced by promising words like ’probably the best in the world’, ’it works every time’ etc.? This American Barley Wine Ale says it how it is. It’s intense, attention seekingly hoppy, and definitely your kind of beer. A beer with a big ego, drive and a huge thirst for recognition.

Pours deep redish brown with a firm, staying, creamy, white to off-white head. Aroma has dark chocolate, raisins, plums, apricot, light vinious, somewhat resiny. Medium carbonation, fine creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has good sweetness with firm bitterness. Apricot, peach, citrus. Deep milky chocolate, grainy, some cocoa-milk, raisins, vinious and warming. Soft roasted in the finish. Lovely beer.

12 oz. bottle from The Hop Yard, Raleigh. Brownish-orange pour with an off-white head. Aroma of biscuity malts, caramel, and light citrus. Taste is much more hop forward than anticipated with tangerine and pine upfront followed by an assertive malt backbone of brown sugar and toffee. Moderate alcohol warming. A great barleywine.

(bottle 330ml) Aroma:light citrus, floral note and then punch of caramel combined with dark fruits esters , some woody hints and light pinch of alcochol. Appearance: dark reddish amber color, medium-size yellowish head lasting till last sip, decent lacing. Taste: rather dry, malty, caramely , wood and dark fruitys notes in the back, loong malty finish, medium-strong citrus bitterness lasting till aftertaste. Palate: medium-full to full body, chewy, thick, too strong carbonation. Overall: Very nice barleywine I would love to drink barrel aged version of it.

Pours dark amber/ brown, clear colour, with off- white unstable creamy head. Aroma without note of an alcohol, with fruity notes of dark (plums) and medditerreanean fruits (oranges, lemon, peaches), vanilla etc. Flavor: alcohol is mild-medium noticable, with sweet, malt/ fruity notes (prevails notes of plums, vanillla, barley, caramel, hints of candy), and spicy/ bitter finish ( esters of oranges and lemon). Malt sweetness is high, hop bitterness also, body is soft and mouth-coating, carbonation is low. Interesting barley wine, with totally different character like De Molen Groot&Sterk.
