COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Did you also at some point in your life get seduced by promising words like íprobably the best in the worldí, íit works every timeí etc.? This American Barley Wine Ale says it how it is. Itís intense, attention seekingly hoppy, and definitely your kind of beer. A beer with a big ego, drive and a huge thirst for recognition.

Bottle shared by bhensonb. Pours reddish brown with an attractive tan head and a sugar and alcohol aroma. There is a raspy caramel malt flavor with s some tobacco and brown sugar and noticeable alcohol. Itís much more bitter than the average barleywine. It all works pretty well.

Draught at Ma Che Siete Venuti a Fa. Aroma of licorice, menthol, chocolate, caramel, light raisins. Minty flavor, very hoppy with pine, chocolate, caramel, and tobacco. Rich, controlled sweetness and huge menthol hops. Very nice, burning, hop finish.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly lasting. Body is dark amber. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, cookie), moderately to heavily hoppy (resin), with notes of alcohol, walnut shells. Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately to heavily bitter. Full body, syrupy texture, lively carbonation, harshly alcoholic. Looks nice, but otherwise itís an unpleasantly simple/one-dimensional, caustic, goopy, alcohol bomb. I donít really get any off notes, but all the same itís a total drain pour. The alcohol burn is seriously akin to a shot of 40% vodka.

750. Thanks mike! Pours a cloudy medium amber with a loose tan head. Big tart nose...bug? Is that lacto strawberry? Maybe raspberry? This is a peculiar beer. Creamy medium body. Lively carb. Toasty malty mid palate with big heavy bruising toffee notes and a hot deep hoppy finish. Hard to figure this one.

750 ml bottle. Thanks hanniku.
Pours a hazy dark amber colour. Aroma of stinging floral hops, caramel and gooseberry bush. Rich flavour of floral hops, gooseberry bush, strawberries, caramel and hay. Full bodied, thick mouthfeel and a long, bitter and very harsh finish. Too raw at this point, but on the other hand I donít think that this will improve much after some aging.

Bottle [660ml] shared with HogTownHarry, JoeMcPhee, jercraigs & mabel -- c/o HogTownHarry. Pours a murky auburn-red with a small frothy tan head. Aroma is fruity along with lots of hops, caramel malt and some salt. Big malty flavour along with lots of hops, quite a bit of alcohol and a dry bitter finish. Medium bodied. Itís really good and well done but not exactly to my liking.

Bomber. Very murky amber pour with a spotty yellow-creamy head. Sticky and chewy. Pine hop and very sweet. Very good.

On tap for Hard Liver í12, pours a murky dark orange brown with a small tan head. Aroma is extremely hop-forward, with citrus fruits and grapefruit peel - some caramel malt to back. Flavour is also extremely hop-forward more reminiscent of a IIPA - very dry palate with citrus fruits / peel and just enough malt. Delicious hoppy barley wine.

10oz on tap at Dutchís. Mostly clear darker red color. Good thin cream-colored head, leaves good thicker lace. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, crisp, lighter carbonation. Great texture.. Lightly dry finish. Great dark fruit aroma, and bigger hop to balance it out. Tropical fruit, some resin, pine. Moderate sweet, bigger bitter taste. Light bit of hoppy heat at the end. A real nice barley wine. A bit of heat to it, but a nice bit of hop as well. Nice, hoppy aromatic stuff.
