750 from Capone’s. Pours turbid rusty ruddy Carolina muddy brown with 2-finger tan head and well retained lace. This one looks great. Nose is heavy caramel malt, tabgeriney resiny hops, black pepper, spirity and hot. Tastes rich, with a big caramel malt, tangeriney hop, spirity, earthy, citric flavor. Assertive hops and heat in this, and well integrated and balanced flavors. This one is very very good, and stays hoppy throughout.

75cl bottle @ ZZT IV. Lightly unclear reddish color, full sized creamy off-white head that lasts for a long time and leaves a nice lacing. Smell malts, hops, lots of fruits. Taste malts, some alcohol, lots of hops, pine, resin, fruits and bitter. Soft mouthfeel, full body, medium carbo. Great beer!

A barleywine with a ton of hops thrown in. Has the appearance of barleywine, the alochol content, and the usual plum taste is present, but the sharp, piney hops hit you like a ton of bricks. I’ve never enjoyed being hit by a ton of bricks this much before... tried with Dave and Paul at the Beer Temple in A’dam in April, 2012.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 conway (570) - - MAY 2, 2012
Poured beautiful amber with a thick frothy head. Outstanding hop aroma and taste for a barley wine. Very smooth mouth feel and finishes sweet.

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2012 Wow! This beer is fantastic. On draft at Monk’s Cafe in Philly. Classified as a barlywine but Tastes like a complex double ipa. This beer is perfect in every way. Beautiful hop presence with an even better malt profile. Incredibly balanced. I drank an oaked arrogant bastard after this and it tasted like water. Fucking fantastic beer.
Update: 8 months later and it’s still very goodd but not a perfect score.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 erickok (2282) - Tours, FRANCE - JUL 17, 2012
UPDATED: JUL 18, 2012 Murky brown, light brown head. Quite happy hoppy for the style, very American as well. Combined with some base dark sweetness. Surprisingly bitter as well but with the creamy base. More like a double IPA really. It is a bit harsh. Worth the alcohol. Do like it! (At Dean?s Tasting)
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 doublebock (450) - California, USA - MAR 8, 2013
Brown orange color with thin layer of beige head. Huge candied malt aroma with a pleasant hoppy malty aroma reminiscent of home brewing. Rich chewy texture with cotton candy malt, a fresh Hop syrup flavor accented with raisins and orange peel.

Bottle, shared with my father-in-law, who mercifully didn’t care for this beer, so I got to have the whole thing to myself. Dark orange amber, hazy, with a thick frothy milkshake-like head. Luscious floral perfumey hops elevate thick chewy burnt-sugary malts. Moderately bitter finish. The florals here are just crazy! I’ve been thinking of changing my favourite style to barley wines (American style barley wines to be precise), and this beer is the perfect example why. Loved it!
