COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Did you also at some point in your life get seduced by promising words like ’probably the best in the world’, ’it works every time’ etc.? This American Barley Wine Ale says it how it is. It’s intense, attention seekingly hoppy, and definitely your kind of beer. A beer with a big ego, drive and a huge thirst for recognition.

Approx 0.75 litre bottle from ølbutikken. clear dark brown, smooth large light brown head. Aroma is a mix of bitter malty and slightly sweet caramelly notes, The bitter malts have a spicy note to them.Sweet hoppy note, but not very strong in the aroma. Flavor is quite typically american ipa , bordering to barley wine. lots of flowery and sweet hops, lots of caramelly and bitter malts, towards the aftertaste the bitter malts take over and together with alcohol create a peppery feel to the beer. Flavor reminds me of some of lagunata’s brews. the hops get citrussy at times, which is a bit too "flowery" for my taste for a barley wine. All in all a pretty tasty US style barley wine or double IPA or something in between.

Pours a murky amber color with a small white head. Nose is lightly fruity, but quite heavy on the toffee and toasted malt. A bit of caramel and brown sugar along with some pine hop notes and a bit of perfume. The flavor has an almost woody note to it. Heavy on the pine hops with a moderate bitterness. Lots of toffee, a bit of toast, and some brown sugar. A bit of booze and perfume, too.

Pours ruby amber with a beige head. Aroma is really on the hoppy american side with peach, strawberry, caramel malts, pine, candy, sweet citrus fruits and sweeter fruits in general. Taste is grassy hops, caramel malts, pine, citrus, weak resin and sweet fruits. Really good!

75 cl bottle @ hotel room, copenhagen. BBE 2015
Uneven head, big bubbles in the middle of thick stuff. Aroma is sweer with berries and some vanilla. Flavour is sweet with berries, vanilla, hints of bitter hops with gooseberry bush aroma. Too sweet and too close to a berry juice, needs more hops or something.

750ml from Sam’s, Durham. Heavy brown pour with a fairly unruly carbonation and brimming head. Massive nose of aggressive hops, some sharp woody notes, and sweet booze. Mouthfeel is full, considerable heat on the palate. Taste was at times excessively sweet, elsewhere overly hot. It’s well rendered but wasn’t exactly what I’d anticipated. In sum, I found it to be a sharp, yeasty, very bodacious young BW.

750 ml bottle. Thanks hanniku.
Pours a hazy dark amber colour. Aroma of stinging floral hops, caramel and gooseberry bush. Rich flavour of floral hops, gooseberry bush, strawberries, caramel and hay. Full bodied, thick mouthfeel and a long, bitter and very harsh finish. Too raw at this point, but on the other hand I don’t think that this will improve much after some aging.
