Perhaps you heard of a worldwide beer-movement that tributes favorite hipster neighbourhoods across the globe. First came Istedgade, Copenhagen then Södermalm, Stockholm followed by Williamsburg, New York and Shoreditch, London accompanied by Trastevere, Rome & last El Raval, Barcelona. If you feel excluded because you’re hip but your city is not, this cutting-edge, ‘hip without borders’ pale ale is an homage to you – the global hipster. Cheers!

Tap at Uptown Republic in a pint glass. Deep golden into orange color with decent lacing and a quarter finger head. Aroma is mild but citrus and crisp. Taste follows suit leaning on hop citrus vibes without references to pine or sweetness. Slightly floral. Decent bite at the end leaving the consumer with hoppy bitterness. Grapefruit chimes in late. Relatively easy to drink but less than impressive. Probably due to overinflated expectations. Many people call me a hipster but I guess the label doesn’t fit the bill in this scenario.

Appearance: hazy pale amber with one finger of rocky ivory head diminishing rapidly to a thin skim, no lacing. (3/5) Aroma: muted, grassy, herbal/floral, pale malt. (6/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate bitter. (7/10) Palate: medium slightly oily body, moderate-low carbonation, lingering bitter finish. (4/5) A little bit disappointing, in that I was expecting to like this more than I did. And no, I’m not turned off by the “hipster" label - I concluded quite some time ago that I’m a beer hipster and have made my peace with that. Don’t get me wrong: there’s absolutely nothing negative about this beer, but it’s just not as interesting as I was expecting or hoping for. Age wouldn’t appear to be a factor, either. I was expecting bright and punchy hops, but they just aren’t there. That’s the problem with having high hopes, I guess? (13/20)

Pours hazy yellow with a huge foamy head. The aroma has some citrus and pine but not a great deal. The taste is very crisp with a tart, bitter finish.

Light opalescent orange-golden colour with a fine poring off white head and good lacings. On the nose aromas of citrus, light tropical fruit, green mango, pine white peach with hints of hay and toast develop. Softly carbonated, mild texture and light bodied. Crisp, light sweet upfront building a very nice fruity bitterness. Light dry-bitter finish. Good balance and quaffable.

Pours a hazy to cloudy golden orange with a tall, rocky cream-colored head that settles leaving some clumpy lace. Nose involves soft pine, juicy sweet fruit, leafy herbal, minty, and grassy hops, lemon, peppery spice, toasty notes, orange and grapefruit. Fairly sweet, decently bitter. Light to medium bodied, active, prickly, juicy, with a toasty dry and bitter finish. Decent brew, drinkable, plenty of good stuff.

Grain and pine aroma. Light hazy gold with a soap bubbly head to start. Dry solid bitterness. Light body. Faint malt and grain on the taste buds. Drinkable but doesn’t excite the senses much.
