On a beautiful summer night in July while peaceful Danes rocked at Roskilde Festival and sipped wine in their picturesque summer retreats, an apocalyptic tidal surge flooded the famous Ølbutikken in Copenhagen and drowned thousands of precious beer – Hop Flood is a bitter tribute to the heroic bottles that didn’t make it.

Draft at Local Beer Eureka. Murky, muddy appearance with low persistent off-white froth. Sharp soapy top note yields to honey, white toast, and leafy components. Strong, dry, and bitter, reminiscent of Arrogant Bastard but greener. Retains a spot of yeast bite.

HKdIPA (433) - HONG KONG - AUG 30, 2014
Draft at Roundhouse. Dark amber brown pour with fine head. Fresh hoppy aroma. Powerful bitter pine hop hit on first sip. Sweet malts to balance and lasting bitter finish. Very hoppy for amber ale. Would definitely get again.

(Bottle, 0.355 l - bottled 9.4.2014, at William K Kurvi, 20140821) The beer poured brown and clear. Its head was quite large, almost white and it lasted long. Aroma had fruitiness, caramel, malts and pine. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, caramel, fruitiness, sweetness and bitterness. Afteraste was hoppy, malty and bitter. Either the name was misleading or the hops had faded very quickly. Not bad but nothing special.

33 cl bottle @ home. Pours dark amber with some sediment and an off-white head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma and flavour are resin, pine, and grapefruit - with a bitter finish.

Bottled. Cloudy amber color, thick whipped cream head. Really fresh aroma ja citrusy and floral hop juices, pine creamy caramel and a touch of toasted nutty, slightly chocolatey malts. Really bitter, resinous bitterness dominates. Caramelly malts are well balanced. Some toasted grain notes add complexity. Delicious finish is a mixture of caramel and strongly resinous hop flavour. Medium body, smooth texture. Well done!

TBone (13851) - Pori, FINLAND - AUG 20, 2014
Bottle at Rotterdam, Helsinki. Dark red-brown color, good creamy beige head. Aroma has lots of resin and piney. Medium-bodied to full-bodied. Lots of resin, almost licorice saltyness because of heavy bitterness. Some alcohol. Simple maltyness. Good but heavy stuff. And of course this is not "amber ale" but ipa/dipa.

Bottle on 8/11/14. Pours a dark amber/brown with a fluffy just off white head. Nose is hoppy like an IPA (more than many), citrus, pine. Taste is sweet, some caramel, tropical fruit, followed by some strong grapefruit bitterness. Really yummy.
