COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
“When I copied the famous Even More Jesus, I had to ask myself as an artist, why am I doing this? I didn’t honestly know. It was just an instinct about beer as pure form… in a sense this stout is like a metaphor for freedom - the sum of all the beauty that surrounds me and my perfect contemporary existence.”

#4300. 330 ml. bottle. That name! This one pours extremely dark brown / black with what is a pretty big chocolate mousse head at first but it reveals gaps rather quickly. Nose is pretty unique, thick blueberry & grape jelly mixed with grainy RIS chocolate. Feels both completely unique & like a typical instantly recognizable RIS at the same time. Taste is unfortunately not as fun as the smell. It has lots of grainy chocolate, cold coffee grounds, soy sauce, bitter cold cheap coffee, light vegetable, teriyaki sauce, bitter grainy liquorish & vegetable roots in the finish, mild grape jelly note but the liquorish & roots dominate. This one is a bit below average as far body is concerned for the style. Okay to good in general but disappointing for the style given the domineering grounds, soy sauce & light vegetable notes. I was hoping for more when I got this one.

2014-12-19. Black body with a small tan head. 3+ Aroma is alcoholic, sweet dark malt, with light undertones of green vegetation. 7+ Flavour is pretty sweet up front, notes of light roast and some hoppy bitterness, light alcohol. Alcohol is moderate but grows warmingly in the throat. Notes of cocoa and Ovaltine precede hoppy greenery in the finish. Medium to full bodied palate, moderate carbonation. Solid, pretty interesting. Bottle from Premier Gourmet, Buffalo.

Draft at Republic, notes from a few weeks ago. Big thick black pour with a tan head. Inky mouthfeel. Very sweet. Nice booze backbone, but not quite enough to balance the sweet malt for me.

Bottle - Nice Chocolaty roast and tons of cocoa. Deep jet brown with a nice light brown head. Sweet dark chocolate, light bitterness and a long boozy sweet dark chocolate finish. Nice.

Aroma is licorice, fig, caramel, toffee, roasted and smokey malts, honey and coffee. Taste is complex! Very rich and almost chewy malt body, very deep and balanced fantasticly with a smooth and subtle bitterness. Fantastic. The sweetness is retained and some the bitterness and very high abv is presented without overwhelming. Appearance is black with a thin pearl head that retains fairly poorly.

Loads of chocolate and dark malts. Easy drinking despite the high alcohol content. It’s very coying on the back end. Very approachable and very affordable. Love it.

Superb beer, equally complex and tasty. With a little bit more head, it would be perfect. Coffee, chocolate, black fruits, vanilla and molasses perfectly rounded and with a perfect liquor-like finish, preceeded by a velvety/milky texture. A beer to enjoy alone, by a fireplace, with a good cigar and a better book. Huge.

Bottle at home from mchughs. Pours oily black with tan head. Usually imperial cab pour with no head. This lasts. Aroma is earth, liquorice, lactose, chocolate (30% cocoa), cherry, booze. Flavour is lactose, chocolate, vanilla, earth. Smooth sweet mouthfeel with an alcohol burn. ABV not managed well and there is an alcohol burn. Body is not big enough. Okay but need a bit more.
