Bottle. Black pour with a very short tan head. Lots of vanilla and chocolate in the nose along with toasted coconut, caramel, candy, roasted malt, dark fruit and booze. Taste is roasted malt, big vanilla, molasses, chocolate candy, coffee notes, caramel, booze and hints of dark fruit. Body is full and chewy with some syrupy notes and a very dense carbonation. Slightly warming and sticky as well. Ends with more dark chocolate and vanilla, booze, roasted malt, espresso, hints of dark fruit and burnt caramel.

Pour from bottle at What the Funk!? 2014. Appearance is deep murky brown with a frothy tan head and good lacing. Figs, coconut, light oxidation, wood notes, dark cocoa, vanilla, and coffee in the aroma. Taste is rich dark chocolate, plums, dates, bready, roasty, wood, coffee, and vanilla. Slick mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Rich tasty stout.

650 mL bottle. Pours very dark brown with fine light brown head. Settles in minutes with minimal lacing. Aroma is chocolate, big sweet bourbon, nutty, toasted, roasted malt and caramel. Flavor is sweet and caramel, up front, big chocolate, sweet bourbon, vanilla and caramel, with a huge chocolate and roasted finish. Not a tone of coffee, lots of caramelized sugar and toffee, more like a mocha. Almost reminiscent of Batch 3 Uncle Jacob’s in some respects. Very soft carbonation, medium-full body, and smooth texture. Very rich and well done.
