This beer is a winner. Pours black with brown big bubble head. Aroma is rich cocoa almond, toffee, vanilla, and cinnamon. Thinner then expected but super tasty with no boozyness and great rich sweetness and spicy barrel.

bomber, tons of rich rich roasty flavors, the barrel influence is moderate, a slow sipper for sure. Again, evil twin shows they really know how to barrel age a beer

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle. Pours like motor oil, inky black, dark as dark can be, with barely any head. The aroma is daunting ... rife with rich roast and chewy, dried fruit. This drinks with some really full flavor, but is surprisingly easy for 11.5% -- dangerously delicious. (#5602, 8/2/2014)

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
22 oz bottle poured into a snifter. Jet black with half a finger of tan head. Aromas of sweet bourbon, dark chocolate, caramel, cookie bits, vanilla. Tastes of sweet bourbon, bits of dark fruit, dark chocolate, roast, caramel, a bit of oak. Full body with a dry finish. Thick, oily mouthfeel. Medium-low carbonation. Tasty, the barrel aging really changes up the base beer.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
22 ounce bottle into snifter, no bottle dating. Pours dense pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense dark brown head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, dark fudge, vanilla, toast, toffee, molasses, bourbon, oak, nuttiness, light dark fruits, and roast/oak earthiness. Incredible aromas with awesome complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt, coffee, and bourbon barrel flavors; with good strength. Taste of big milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, dark fudge, molasses, vanilla, toast, toffee, bourbon, oak, nuttiness, light dark fruit, and roast/oak earthiness. Slight roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, dark fudge, vanilla, toast, toffee, molasses, bourbon, oak, nuttiness, light dark fruit, and roast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Absolutely insane complexity and perfect balance of dark/roasted malt, coffee, and bourbon barrel flavors; with a nice roast bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light carbonation and very full bodied; with a very creamy, slick, smooth, and luscious mouthfeel that is insane. Alcohol is extremely well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is an absolutely world class barrel aged imperial coffee stout. All around insane complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt, coffee, and bourbon barrel flavors; and extremely smooth to sip on for the big ABV. An absolutely sublime offering.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark, oily looking but thinner than I would expect. Boozy nose of bourbon, cola, dark malts. Dark chocolate, some light ashy burnt malts, cola, maybe coconut, hot finish. Don’t love the original or this one.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
July 1st Sunday. Never pulled the trigger on this one as it was a bit pricey, but it would have been close to being worth it. Vanilla, chocolate, bourbon, coconut, roasted malts, molasses. Big, thick, decadent. As much as I think I couldn’t drink the entire bottle of these monster’s by myself, I continue to rate highly because the initial eye opener the flavors deserves respect.

First Sunday. Great balance and good sweetness. Smooth caramel and chocolate flavors. Smooth caramel with a touch of vanilla in the aroma. Complex and really good. Everything comes together well and combines in a meld of rich delicious flavors.

Bottle @ RBSG 2014 Grand Tasting. Black pour with a small tan head. Some graham cracker, fudge, and bourbon. Decent vanilla and lots of roasted malt...a bit of ash. Maybe some burnt sugar, decent coffee. Flavor has lots of sweet sugar, bourbon, and vanilla. Some graham cracker, dark chocolate, and fudge. Good roasted malt and coffee bitterness. Subtle oak/char. Not sure it’s an improvement on the original.
