Bottle. The pour is a very dark brown. The aroma has a hint of heat to it, and sweetness. The taste is almost a perfect blend of heat and sweetness. Great balance. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(very similar to the ordinary version)Tap at CBC Clerkenwell, Pours brown, deep dark brown almost black, off cream thin head. Nose of biscuits, some fruits, and chocolate. Chocolate cake on the palate, big dark fruits, cherry, prunes, figs and dates. Added licorice and very subtle chilli. This grew on me the more i drank of it.

Keg at CBC Clerkenwell. Black, big tan head lasts a minute or so. Smell is apple and liquorice, maybe some background hazelnut. Body is medium to big, slightly foamy, carbonation is low. Taste is heavy liquorice, molasses, slight coffee…...and more sweet liquorice and molasses. It almost tastes oxidised. Drinking a half of this took me ages - it was just too syrupy sweet and liquorice heavy for me. On a positive note, the chili built up really nicely and gave me something to enjoy. Overall, though, this didn’t float my boat.

Tap at Craft. Black with tan head. Aroma of roasty chocolate with a bit of pepper, little licorice. Similar flavour, lovely blend of licorice and chocolate with roast. Thick and sweet with a bitter finish (like my boabie). Delish

Keg at the Evil Twin MTB event at CBC Clerkenwell. It pours a deep dark brown color with a small beige head. Aroma is big dark chocolate notes, very subtle chilli, while the hazelnut are there and play nicely with the bold sweet notes. Taste is light roastinees and big chocolate and hazelnut sweetness, quite bold, with chocolate truffles and nutella. Body is creamy with a good carbonation. Overall, this is exquisite and quite better than the regular IBB.

Bottled. Dark pour and a small tan head. Coffee chocolate malts aroma. Same as the reg biscotti, roastex malts vanilla booze etc but with a chili burn in a good way.

Blue Monk finally had it on draft as this was the 3rd time I saw it on their website and the other 2 times it was not there. Brought Patty and Erica to visit Kara and Andy. Dark Black brown pour with a light brown head. Nose is chocolate and coffee, milk chocolate. Taste is sweet chocolate with coffee, hazelnut and cookies. There is some sharp spicy Chili heat in the background finish. Good malt body and a long sweet finish. The alcohol is only slightly noticeable bust still really good.

Bottle split at CBC, big thanks to Bruce, 05/12/13. Pitch black with a moderately appointed dirty tan head that dissipates to a swirl and associated edgework. Nose is chocolate cake mix, macadamia nuts (guess that the hazelenut effect!), bourbon biscuit crumble, rich cocoa powder. Taste comprises decadent chocolate, Nutella, chocolate cheesecake crumble, green pepper, lightly spiced, lick of booze but well integrated. Full bodied, fine carbonation with a booze laced chocolate conclusion. A very solid impy, the alcohol is well integrated and the chilli heat subtle.

Draft at Torst with Linh, Andy, Pearl and Max while Italirican was back in town. Pours a deep rich black body with thin chocolate brown lacing. Aroma is rich chocolate syrup, cake, chocolate brownie, vanilla and hot peppers. Mouthfeel is full and rich with notes of chocolate brownies, vanilla, hazelnut, oak and warming booze. The pepper character knows its role - reserved in the back, careful not to overpower any of the other flavors. Super great Imperial Stout, and one of the best pepper-treated stouts I’ve tried. Great.

Bottle shared at CBC Clerkenwell in London - big, big thanks to Deeblo for this regional wonder. Pours oily black with a thick, brown head. Gorgeous nose, loads of dark cherries and rich chocolate. Big sweet flavor, rife with dark cocoa, dark fruits, some bittersweet baking chocolate, chili spice accents. Full bodied with fine carbonation and creamy texture. Rich chocolate finish with mild chili heat in the throat, heavy roasted malts, moderate alcohol presence, chocolate-covered berries. Lovely. Absolutely delectable. One of the best beers of the night.
