Bottle new. Pours near black with out much else. Aroma is heavy chocolate, cherry, malt, wood. Flavor is similar with a boozy bite and bitterness partially balancing the sweetness. Feel is a bit dull but thick and prickly hot at the end. Good and it works for the season but not something to really love, at least not young.

Bomber. Pours almost black, thick and opaque like a bucket of crude oil, not much head or lacing. Nose is dark too -- dark fruit, dark malts, dark roasted barley, dark chocolate, dark coffee, getting cherries in there. Everything here screams imperial stout but itís listed as a ístrong porterí but I digress. Mouth is sticky and thick like a melted shake, loads of bittersweet chocolate, cherry, coffee, dried fruits, roasty-ness, sticks to the palate like that guy stuck to the I-beam in the old Krazy Glue commercial. Finishes pretty mellow with a slight bitterness, but none of that soot that I donít care for. Whatever itís classification, this is a very tasty brew.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle served in snifter and tasted next to the base beer version: As expected both beer look similar, deep brown near opaque with a lasting frothy tan head and spotty lace. The aroma on this has a nice cherry overtone along with the coffee, roast, leather, char, and herbal hop note. Very inviting and I like this more than the base beer. The flavor profile is a tad more complex due to the fruit but I did expect more acidity/sourness. Good coffee and roast notes with some charred undertones. The mouth feel just seems smoother and easier to drink as well. I tad thinner than I though, perhaps that is why this is listed as a Porter instead of a Stout. Overall I enjoyed this much more than the base beer, Yeah for cherries on top!
