3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma is cherry chocolate. Smooth a little acidity but very good. It has a hint of like stale dog poop or something. Looks ideal. Pours black. Amazing dark brown head with a tinge of cherry. Taste is not bad. Large acidic note in the middle takes a lot away. Boozy earthy and bitter. Acidy boozy finish. Maybe a little sweet cherry note in the end. Sits heavy but finish is watery.
Overall better than regular imperial biscotti break but not amazing. The hints of cherry are nice and a nice compliment but the base beer is not good enough.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from CBX. Black pour with a brown head that fades into a ring. Aroma of fudgy chocolate, roasted malts, charcoal, hints of acid and sour cherries. Flavor is fairly close, kind if thin compared to the base beer, with a very well put by stevencon and myself tomato acid in the finish. Not bad, but I'm not sure how fresh this is.

I forget if it was Mikkeller or Evil Twin that made the beer as a specific joke about the kind of ridiculous beers that are coming out now but if it’s not this one, that is completely insane. This is very much a black beer w/ a tan head of fine bubbles and nice spots of lace. It is a beautiful beer and you can tell that from only a small sample so it’s really something. It has a surprisingly mild nose w/ just a touch of or roast and cherry. A bunch of vanilla comes out once tasted though. This has a nice creamy texture and mild carbonation. My biggest complaint is a bit of alcohol heat but that is not major. One of the better examples of the big, dark beer plus goofy ingredients trend that’s been going on for some years now.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nearly an ink black pour with very minimal brown head. Aroma of oak, cinnamon, and chocolate. Very robust and rich in flavor. Notes of chocolate, coffee, cinnamon, with an appropriate hint of cherry. Very thick but very good.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 ounce bottle into snifter, no bottle dating. Pours dense pitch black color with a 2 finger dense dark tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, tart cherry, toast, dark bread, fudge, vanilla, light nuttiness, and roasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt, coffee, and light-moderate tart cherry notes; with great strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, fudge, toast, dark bread, vanilla, light nuttiness, light tart cherry, and roasted earthiness. Light cherry tartness/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, fudge, toast, dark bread, vanilla, light nuttiness, light tart cherry, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt, coffee, and light-moderate tart cherry flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy, and lightly slick/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent imperial coffee porter! All around great complexity, balance, and robustness of dark/roasted malt, coffee, and light-moderate cherry flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma is dominated with lots of chocolate and medium light roast notes. Medium toffee and caramel notes. Moderately strong dark fruit esters including cherry, plum and berries.
Pours dark brown, almost black with some brown highlights and a moderately large, fairly thick, dark mocha head with above average retention. Medium light lacing with medium long legs.
Flavor is full of milky chocolate character with medium light roast notes; more roast is prevalent in the finish. Moderate fruit notes with cherry, plum and fig with some berry character. Medium bitterness and moderate alcohol spice in the finish. Lingering roast and bitter chocolate.
Mouthfeel is medium to medium full bodied with medium to medium low carbonation. Low but present astringency with medium low alcohol warmth.
Overall an alright beer, but I’m not a fan of overly fruity character. The finish is also rough and a bit astringent which doesn’t work well with the fruit notes. I’m not really a fan.
