3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Inky black pour with a thin, creamy brown head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, toast, roasted nuts, caramel, lots of char and smoky old campfire, just a hint of sweet berries. Flavor is sweet chocolate up front, lots of char, some sweet cherries, coffee, dark caramel, light piney hops and a slightly stronger hint of cherries to the finish. Honestly if the deScription didnít mention cherries, I may not have picked them up. Heavy body, creamy to chewy feel and medium strength slightly sharp carbonation. Really good overall, but they didnít do the base beer any favors with the cherries or whatever they did. I will admit as the beer warms the cherries come out a little more and add a little more positively to the beer, but still not enough to redeem it compared to the base beer.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pitch black and opaque with a one finger dark mocha head that slowly settles into a thick, lasting ring. Very good retention, lingering for most of the pour with streaks of soapy lacing left behind.
The aroma of this beer is very similar to that of the regular version with just a touch of sweet cherry juice. Deeply roasted dark malt character with robust coffee bean and silky dessert-like malt sweetness. Roasted gourmet coffee along with burnt toast, oatmeal and dark chocolate but not as burnt/acrid smelling as the regular version. More noticeable sweetness in the with silky chocolate, fudge, bakers chocolate and vinous dark fruit sweetness. Coffee is a bit overpowered and the cherry is faint until it warms up to closer to room temperature.
Fuller end of medium body with a really prominent sour cherry juice presence that adds a decent amount of vinous dark fruit flavor to the robust roasted malts and sweeter notes. Slightly smokey and a bit drier than expected wih a somewhat acrid/burnt character. Used coffee grind and burnt toast along with some charcoal, oatmeal and bittersweet dark chocolate. The coffee is faded and itís a bit harsher on the palate. Sweeter malt flavors and tart cherry juice provide some needed balance with some lighter chocolate chocolate, caramel cake. Slightly medicinal and syrupy but adds another dimension of flavor but the. Similar cherry flavor to cherry rye but this beer isnít as complex or flavorful and the notes of the base beers are slightly muted. Coffee comes toward the forefront as it warms up but itís slightly bud tasting resulting in a harsher drink.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Aroma is sweet cherries, sour cherries, roasted malt, milk chocolate, coffee, lactose, like cherry cordial ice cream. Appearance is black, light brown head, poured real thick. Taste is wonderful, sweet cherries, then tart, followed by luscious milk chocolate, lactose, coffee, and roasted malt. Mouthfeel is thick, medium carbonation. Overall, Iím not usually a fan of cherry in stout but this is top notch.

On tap at Belmont Station. Colour...basic black with a thick tan head. Nose...roasty, dark chocolate and baked cherry crisp. Palate...chocolate cherries, cherry Herring and cherry compote with loads of boozy goodness. The mid palate is dry and ashen and the finish is long and cherry forever!

The thought of ruining my imperial porter with cherries, well, it bugs me. Iím not a fan of processed cherries, rarely do I enjoy a cherry flavor in anything, and I hate cherry pie. Cherries should be eaten fresh and bathed in cool, running water for a while before using your lips and teeth to pull the stubborn flesh from the pit. When I pull the cap, Iím not surprised that I find a wonderful aroma, everything but the sour cherry; oak, dark chocolate, some coffee, and leathery old books. I pour a glass, filling the snifter full of dirty engine oil, brown sludge hugging the mouth of the bottle and smudging my fingers. The head is thick, chocolaty, porous, but doesnít rise much; less than a finger above the beer. - The first few sips Iím fighting that cherry, the acidity taking my mind off the foundation of the flavor. Slowly, however, and as the beer warms, the mergence grows on me. The more sultry this gets, the more it opens up and lets the bouquet open wide, a comfortable merging of the flavors, and within my first glass, Iím enamored. I already know Iíll buy this again, despite the cost. This does feel much more like a stout, but I understand that originally there was wasnít much difference between the styles, so Iím not judging. - The finish is fabulous, the beer rich and flavorful. The visual is so thick, but the feel of the brew on my tongue is more a medium body; oily, but not viscous. The flavors leave a bit of tobacco on my tongue, and coupled with the baking chocolate and cherries, it fades well, leaving a pleasant reminder of what I just experienced.

Bottle. Pours a pitch black beer with a big, brownish head on top. Aroma has massive oak, cork, nutty presences, red fruits and molasses. Flavor has light tartness to it, loads of fruity touches, some slight booze. Very complex, very full bodied. Thick, rich moutfeel, super smooth. Longlasting, sweet and nutty finish. Great stuff!!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from a 22 ounce bomber. No light shines through, not even around the edges. The aroma of cocoa and cherry is noticeable a foot away. The taste is big rich dark chocolate, tobacco, cherry, licorice, toasted malts. There is some warming alcohol notes. This is great on a cool rainy night.
