Inky black pour with a thin, creamy brown head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, toast, roasted nuts, caramel, lots of char and smoky old campfire, just a hint of sweet berries. Flavor is sweet chocolate up front, lots of char, some sweet cherries, coffee, dark caramel, light piney hops and a slightly stronger hint of cherries to the finish. Honestly if the deScription didn’t mention cherries, I may not have picked them up. Heavy body, creamy to chewy feel and medium strength slightly sharp carbonation. Really good overall, but they didn’t do the base beer any favors with the cherries or whatever they did. I will admit as the beer warms the cherries come out a little more and add a little more positively to the beer, but still not enough to redeem it compared to the base beer.

Pours rich coffee sable with a thick and rather persistent somewhat fine-bubbled tan head. Aroma delivers roast malt, toasted bread, molasses, cherry and roast coffee tones. Flavor echoes all this and adds a note of sweet chocolate to the mix, while the sourness of the cherry tone comes forth. This is almost like drinking a black forest cake mixed with quality mocha. Firm, fairly viscous mouthfeel presents good fizz, while finish highlights cherries and chocolate. Have one - or better yet, share one - for dessert. Pretty please!

Desverger (6636) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - MAR 31, 2016
Tap@Mikkeller & Friends, Copenhagen - black coloured pour with a neat creamy beige head. Roasted and sweet malty, with chocolate prominence with a lovely complimenting backing of cherry, like a black forest gateau, some caramel cakey sweetness, slight burnt malty nuances, light essence of vanilla in play, medium roasty into the finish. Gorgeous.

(Bouteille): Un riche chocolat, caramel et mélasse avec une infusion de moufflet à la cerise. Difficile de se tromper avec cette base.
