COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Roman Empire had a certain “je ne sais quoi” festive food culture, extravagant architecture and spectacular live entertainment. Some might argue the Emperors were brutal, mad and hungry for power, and the people vain when taking baths and working out all day. Listen – that’s still all part of the secret Imperial ingredient – keep it cool, clean, confident, arrogant and flamboyant. Forza Imperiale.

Pours pitch black with a brown head and strong aroma of coffee, liquorice, and roasted malt. Taste is delicious, tons of roasted coffee, with vanilla, roasted malt, chocolate, and alcohol leading to a sweet, burnt finish. Very flavorful, great strong brew

Draft. A black beer with a dark brown head. The aroma has notes of dark chocolate, roasted malt, alcohol, and soy sauce. The flavor is sweet with notes of chocolate sauce, alcohol, roasted malt, cocoa beans, and sirup, leading to a dry, roasted, and alcoholic finish.

660 ml bottle from Portale Birra, served in a snifter glass. Pitch black, thick like used motor oil, with absolutely no light passing through, and a small, frothy, beige head, which didn’t last very long, leaving a tiny ring of foam. Rich aroma, notes of freshly roasted coffee beans, bitter dark chocolate, vanilla, toasted malts, perhaps a hint of smoked meat and soy sauce as well. Clearly "smaller" than the pour indicated, but still pretty full flavoured. Sweetened coffee, milk chocolate, roasted malts, brown sugar, way less boozy than what I was expecting, in fact, the alchool is ridiculously well hidden. For the actual ABV, it’s dangerously drinkable. Slightly bitter aftertaste, quite fruity (esp. darker berries type of fruits.) Average carbonation, medium to full body, oily texture. I had VERY high expectations for this one, and I’m not exactly blown off. Probably my fault, because this is certainly a damn good imperial porter.
