The Roman Empire had a certain “je ne sais quoi” festive food culture, extravagant architecture and spectacular live entertainment. Some might argue the Emperors were brutal, mad and hungry for power, and the people vain when taking baths and working out all day. Listen – that’s still all part of the secret Imperial ingredient – keep it cool, clean, confident, arrogant and flamboyant. Forza Imperiale.

En öl för den som älskar mörk choklad. Doftar djup choklad. Smakar choklad och en vanilj ton fångar upp en. Skum litet och nogat ton. Riktigt god efterrätts öl.

Refrigerated brown bomber poured into a snifter. Pours black with medium light brown head. Aroma is nice coffee, thick/medium body, medium carbonation, and thick small bubble lacing. Taste is roasted malt, nice coffee, and some bitter hops in the finish. Very good imperial porter.

Bomber to snifter. Pours a deep black with a cream head. Smells malty and sweet. Taste follows smell directly. Oats, cookie, sweet, malty with little to no alcohol noticeable. Solid brew for breakfast, lunch, or dinner!

Tap at CBC Clerkenwell, Pours brown, deep dark brown almost black, off cream thin head. Nose of biscuits, some fruits, and chocolate. Chocolate cake on the palate, big dark fruits, cherry, prunes, figs and dates, lovely beer, quite simple but not in a bad way.

Tap at CBC Clerkenwell at the Evil Twin meet the brewer event. A seriously good beer. Decadent chocolate and mocha notes which go hand in hand with the ash in this. Well balanced stuff. As amazing as this beer is, it still doesn’t compare to the Decicco version which is simply perfection

Bottle from the Craft webshop. Very dark brown/black colour, thick golden head which fades. Feels oily in the mouth, thick and boozy. Aroma is booze, dark, dark fruits, very roasty, dark chocolate, bit of coffee, the usual I guess. Taste is similar, but high on the fruitiness. Christmas cake elements, but boozy fruit, rather than spices. Nice bitterness at the finish. Dark chocolate, brown sugar. Nice.

UPDATED: JUL 23, 2014 Bottle: Deep, black center with very small edges of dark ruby & mahogany. A small tan head forms for a moment & quickly fizzles into a modest ring around the edge. Aroma is both robust & complex with notes of deep roasted espresso, coffee beans, nuts, milky sweetness, & some light, ashy char in the back-end. Coffee/espresso is the most prominent aroma; it’s very pure & inviting, very discernible from other coffee beers. Taste has heavy coffee up front; deep & roasty backdrop with a strong overlayer of creamy sweetness & lightly residual brown sugar. Burnt syrup, mild molasses, light vanilla, & even reminders of hazelnut (very nutty in the finish). I get a touch of dark fruit & anise with time, but mild compared to the coffee & brown sugar onslaught. Deep mocha java finish with dark chocolate growing in flavor as it gets warmer. Great beer, just wish it was a little less expensive.

I’m not a coffee fan, so didn’t think I’d like this.... I was wrong. Pours dark brown with a burnt orange head. The aroma has coffee, cream, chocolate, heavy roast and licorice. Everything was lush and rich with nothing dominating. It has a medium rich body with a nice amount of gentle carbonation. The flavor begins with dark chocolate, rich caramel, smooth toast, vanilla and earthiness. The finish bring out the coffee, but it’s part of the beer, not overwhelming. There is also some earthy hoppiness. Really nice beer.
