The Roman Empire had a certain “je ne sais quoi” festive food culture, extravagant architecture and spectacular live entertainment. Some might argue the Emperors were brutal, mad and hungry for power, and the people vain when taking baths and working out all day. Listen – that’s still all part of the secret Imperial ingredient – keep it cool, clean, confident, arrogant and flamboyant. Forza Imperiale.

The warmer the better for this beer. Mostly get coffee and almonds in this with a hint of vanilla

Donkerzwart met mokkakleurige schuimkraag die langzaamaan wegebt tot fijn laagje. Pure chocolade, pruimen, rozijnen. Redelijk zoet van smaak met chocolade-achtige vanille afdronk. Subliem klein bittertje achteraf. Heerlijk !!

Can (pint) from Good Beers NYC. Beautiful rich nose of vanilla and chocolate. Same continues in smooth rich multilayered palate. Brilliant in every aspect.

Pours a very dark brown to black with a tan head. Aroma of almonds, sweet vanilla, and some notes of coffee. Light carbonation with lots of lacing. Thick creamy texture. Roasted malt taste with some coffee and some sweetness from the vanilla and almonds. Hides the alcohol well. Not my favorite stout but still pretty enjoyable.

Pitch black color, small, quickly diminishing brown head. Sweet aromas of raisins, molasses, chocolate, some coffee and almonds. Sweet taste of pastries, chocolate, vanilla, coffee and cinnamon. Very sweet, never unbalanced. Solid.

Can at home. This was a surprise -- despite hearing great things about this beer, it was really thin and there was a distinct tartness from the lower pH from the dark malts. The cocoa and almond aromas helped deepen everything, but it still was just a middle-of-the-pack imperial stout.

Pours black with a small mocha head that quickly dissipated into a thin film. Aroma is dark chocolate, roast, coffee, vanilla and toffee. Taste is sweet with mild bitters. Full bodied with an oily almost creamy texture. Soft carbonation and overall a great stout that maintains a great balance by never becoming to sweet.

The flavors are great, but not perfect. The best thing about this beer is the 11.5% alcohol.

Canned. Shared by my friend Paul from San Diego. Almost pitch black color. Fantastic spicy aroma plus espresso, dark chocolate. Taste mirrors the aroma, but it has a lower body. Overall fantastic nevertheless the low body.

That is good - thanks Beer Gonzo. For a big stout, it keeps its head well and the lacing is good. Lovely palate - thick, creamy, frothy, alcohol bite. The vanilla and almond smooth out the bitter chocolate taste, and we also get syrupy oils, nuts and toasted malt.
