4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: MAY 25, 2014 Bottle and draft. Pours very dark brown to black in color with a medium sized beige head. The aroma and flavor have roast, coffee, chocolate, a subtle nutty character. Big flavor, smooth drinking, over the top for a porter even the Imperial variety.

Hazlenut, alcoholic, coffee aroma. So god damn amazing. Beautiful lour like melted chocolate. Smooth hazlenut and warm alcohol taste. A bit of sweet malt but doesnt last long as roasted notes take over. A bit on the alcoholic side, makes for a warm beer. Near perfect beer.

4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle poured into a Belgian tulip. Pours a thick motor oil consistency, jet black color with half an inch of tan head. Head fades quickly into a ring around the glass. Not really any lacing. Aromas of coffee, cinnamon, dark chocolate, caramel, espresso beans. Great nose. Tasting notes of roasted coffee, slight burnt coffee, dark chocolate, caramel, coffee bitterness. Full body with a sticky dry finish. Pretty smooth for 11.5%.

200ml glass, 11.5 % abv, from the tap menu at Crowbar. Jet black body. Faint tan coloured head, good lacing. Oak vanilla on the nose, hints of coffee and chocolate as well. Vanilla ice cream to the taste buds offset by roasted chocolate. Full bodied, velvety and smooth in the mouth with warming alcohol down the swallow. Almost top-notch (Oslo 12.02.2014).

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
I was very impressed by this beer. It was the first I’ve ever had from Evil Twin; I will be looking for them more in the future. The aroma is unique - the coffee smell is subdued (unlike many other coffee stouts) and it implies the beer will be sweeter than it actually is. Pours a shade above pitch black with a quickly receding brownish head. The taste is vanilla, some creamy coffee, bitterness doesn’t come through until the end and even then it is less than one would expect considering it has to conceal 11.5 ABV. Some alcohol comes through in the aftertaste, but isn’t that what you want from an Imperial Stout? I found that this beer tastes better and more complex at a cooler temperature than other stouts - don’t leave it out of the fridge too long. The mouthfeel is by far the best thing about this beer. This may be sacrilege, but it’s the silkiest feeling beer I’ve had besides Bourbon County Stout. Highly recommend.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Sprayberry Bottle Shop. Black in color with nice dark chocolaty colored head. Head dissipated fairly quickly into a thin collar. Aroma is of hazelnut and a little bit of chestnut as well. Dark roasted malt and some sweet molasses too. Taste is nice and nutty as well. Sweet for a stout without being overly sweet. Nice molasses flavor along with the nuttiness. Silty mouthfeel and low carbonation.

Chocolate and alcohol in the aroma. Deep dark color with a fluffy chocolate milk head. It tastes sweet and smooth with a bit of an alcohol burn. Overall a strong beer.

Bottle arrived thanks to my friend Federico Corbelli Portal Beer. The aroma and taste are amazing, really reminds own cookies this beer seem to remember the recipe for Grandma’s cookies when immersed in the mixture of coffee and liquor to prepare tiramisu cake. Excellent.

On tap at Crowbar. Almost black with a creamy light brown head. Complex nose of coffee, chocolate, vanilla, marcipane. Continues to impress in the mouth with good coffee roast offsetting sweetness from chocolate and marcipane. Hints of milky oats. Great night cap.
