COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Roman Empire had a certain ďje ne sais quoiĒ festive food culture, extravagant architecture and spectacular live entertainment. Some might argue the Emperors were brutal, mad and hungry for power, and the people vain when taking baths and working out all day. Listen Ė thatís still all part of the secret Imperial ingredient Ė keep it cool, clean, confident, arrogant and flamboyant. Forza Imperiale.

The aroma, once smelled, is extremely reminiscent and similar to chocolate milk although hints of vanilla and roasted malts do come through as it warms in the glass. The appearance combines a medium tan head with an opaque black color, and the taste is quite sweet and quite umami with a touch of bitterness on the tail end. The palate complements this bold flavor nicely due to the long finish, full body, oily texture, and flat carbonation; although this may seem like an odd combination, it is actually completely divine. Indeed, getting this beer on tap was an absolute treat.

22 oz bottle into a pint glass. From notes. A: Pours a pitch black color. There isnít much head, just a small tan-colored film. This has some nice alcohol legs, it must be said. S: This is really chocolaty, with a pleasant backing of black coffee. I really love all the chocolate in the aroma - while itís simplistic, the way the two notes coalesce is really great. A simple but very effective aroma. T: There is a ton of strong dark chocolate to open the flavor profile up. This sensation gradually builds up a coffee tone on the back end. Between the two flavors is a notable cookies íní cream flavor to balance. Tons of flavor help make this a winner, though it could be a tad more complex. Who cares, though?! M: This isnít quite as creamy as Iíd expect a sweet-ish stout to be. Having said that, it features a good body and some nice viscosity. Poor carbonation means the sweetness sticks around for a while on the palate. Despite that, thereís no hint of the 11.5% on either the flavor or feel, and it goes down quite easily. O: I love how chocolaty this is, and how balanced the coffee come across. Having said that, I donít know if itís quite as good as Founders Breakfast Stout. Certainly, itís an excellent coffee brew, but Iím not sure itís worth its exorbitant price. Even if this were just $10/bottle, I would consume this like water. Iíd still buy it again at $18 a bottle, though.

66cl Bottle shared with caesar and theJvD. Black colour, thin beige head. Aroma of loads of sweet vanilla, vanilla biscuits, sweet coffee, hint of chocolate. Flavour is very sweet, sticky, vanilla biscuits, coffee, chocolate, light tingle from I think the fine carbonation, bittersweet finish with more vanilla. Full-bodied. Excessive beer, a little too sweet for me, but certainly enjoyable.

Pours an ebon color with a thick tan head. Aroma has a distinct vanilla and coffee feel. The taste follows right behind the smell with a delicious coffee and chocolate feel. Pleasantly surprised.

Bottle at Beer Temple. Pours pitch black with almost no head. Aroma is sweet with lots of vanilla, biscuit (gesuikerde kaakjes), some roasted malts and chocolate. Taste is also quite sweet, but not too sweet with roasted malts, biscuit and again loads of vanilla and a little bit of alcohol. Full bodied with a creamy texture. Quite sweet but not too much, well made.

Bottled @ Beer Temple, medium sample. Dark color, short head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, biscuit, cookie, loads of vanilla. Quite sweet in taste, but strangely enough not too sweet, because itís backed up with lots of biscuit and chocolate. Creamy body, velvety vanilla. Itís not a hype, itís a bloody great beer.

Pours black with a finger of tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, muscovado, earth, light vanilla, dates, and actually biscotti. Taste is sweetish with hints of bitterness in the background, followed by rich boozy port bittersweet. Very long chocolate bitter finish. Body is rich and creamy with soft carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
