COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Roman Empire had a certain “je ne sais quoi” festive food culture, extravagant architecture and spectacular live entertainment. Some might argue the Emperors were brutal, mad and hungry for power, and the people vain when taking baths and working out all day. Listen – that’s still all part of the secret Imperial ingredient – keep it cool, clean, confident, arrogant and flamboyant. Forza Imperiale.

The aroma is chocolate, licorice, molasses, roast. The appearance is deep bvalck, light tan head. The flavor is chocolate, cream, molasses, light licorice. The finish is sweet, roasty, pine needles. Medium/thick in body. VERY enjoyable. Really more like an Imperial Stout. I expeted more biscotti flavor. Still, a great beer.

Draft at HOTB. Pours a blackish brown with about an inch of head. Powerful aroma of coffee and chocolate. Slight viscosity to the mouthfeel. Good balance to the finish. Glad to try this.

Bottle: Poured a deep black color porter with a medium size dirty brown color head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of chocolate malt notes with some light caramel with some vanilla and Italian cookie notes. Taste is also dominated by chocolate malt notes with some vanilla and Italian biscuit notes with light dry roasted malt notes. Body is quite full with light creamy texture and good carbonation with no apparent alcohol. Very impressive amount of complexity while retaining a good level of drinkability.

Aroma is a rich, wonderful combination of coffee and raisinets. Cola brown, thin beige head, legs. Coffee dominated flavor, raisins and soil underneath. Lighter body than expected given its viscosity. A little boozy.
