The Roman Empire had a certain je ne sais quoi festive food culture, extravagant architecture and spectacular live entertainment. Some might argue the Emperors were brutal, mad and hungry for power, and the people vain when taking baths and working out all day. Listen thats still all part of the secret Imperial ingredient keep it cool, clean, confident, arrogant and flamboyant. Forza Imperiale.

Pours a rich deep brown color with a big frothy two finger tan foam. The nose is roasted chocolate, coffee and a touch of vanilla. The palate is very well balanced with a smooth creamy mouthfeel... bread like backbone that is a great platform for the sweet but restrained flavors of cocoa, touch of spent coffee grounds, vanilla bean, molasses. Nice Beer !

Bottle from systembolaget. Really nice roasted aroma, full of malt, chocolate and vanilla, the almond can also be found if you look for it. Really heavy in milk chocolate and coffe in the taste. The vanilla and almond is there as well but take a backseat to the intense milk chocolate and coffe. medium/heavy in body with a chocolate coffe combo in the finish. After the coffe and chocolate clings of there is a nice bitterness still lingering. Fantastic beer, a bit to sweet but really nice

UPDATED: OCT 1, 2013 650ml bottle. Pours a deep dark brown bordering on black with a medium sized, mocha coloured head. Huge aroma of vanilla, roasted coffee, high cocao chocolate, malted milk, cinder toffee, burnt sugar & hazelnut. Quite bitter sweet on the tongue, with the vanilla/chocolate/coffee/toffee/nut flavours really shining through, with just a hint of hop bitterness. Medium to full bodied, with an oily, creamy, sticky, thick feel with nice soft carbonation. Alcohol appears well hidden. Nice, long, sticky, bitter sweet finish. Impressive!

The aroma, once smelled, is extremely reminiscent and similar to chocolate milk although hints of vanilla and roasted malts do come through as it warms in the glass. The appearance combines a medium tan head with an opaque black color, and the taste is quite sweet and quite umami with a touch of bitterness on the tail end. The palate complements this bold flavor nicely due to the long finish, full body, oily texture, and flat carbonation; although this may seem like an odd combination, it is actually completely divine. Indeed, getting this beer on tap was an absolute treat.

22 oz bottle into a pint glass. From notes. A: Pours a pitch black color. There isnt much head, just a small tan-colored film. This has some nice alcohol legs, it must be said. S: This is really chocolaty, with a pleasant backing of black coffee. I really love all the chocolate in the aroma - while its simplistic, the way the two notes coalesce is really great. A simple but very effective aroma. T: There is a ton of strong dark chocolate to open the flavor profile up. This sensation gradually builds up a coffee tone on the back end. Between the two flavors is a notable cookies n cream flavor to balance. Tons of flavor help make this a winner, though it could be a tad more complex. Who cares, though?! M: This isnt quite as creamy as Id expect a sweet-ish stout to be. Having said that, it features a good body and some nice viscosity. Poor carbonation means the sweetness sticks around for a while on the palate. Despite that, theres no hint of the 11.5% on either the flavor or feel, and it goes down quite easily. O: I love how chocolaty this is, and how balanced the coffee come across. Having said that, I dont know if its quite as good as Founders Breakfast Stout. Certainly, its an excellent coffee brew, but Im not sure its worth its exorbitant price. Even if this were just $10/bottle, I would consume this like water. Id still buy it again at $18 a bottle, though.

65 cl bottle @ home. Pours black with a tan head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is chocolate, vanilla, coffee, and liquorice. Flavour is much like the aroma with some warming alcohol and a bitter finish.

66cl Bottle shared with caesar and theJvD. Black colour, thin beige head. Aroma of loads of sweet vanilla, vanilla biscuits, sweet coffee, hint of chocolate. Flavour is very sweet, sticky, vanilla biscuits, coffee, chocolate, light tingle from I think the fine carbonation, bittersweet finish with more vanilla. Full-bodied. Excessive beer, a little too sweet for me, but certainly enjoyable.
