3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: FEB 6, 2016 Toasty roasted malts and dark chocolate with sweet raisin bread aromas. Taste is the same as smell: biscotti, dark chocolate, raisin & dark fruit, some toasted coconut & booze in the finish.

Aroma is tons of roasted malt, chocolate, nice. Appearance is black, tan head. Taste is somewhat mild, sweet, yet finishes robust. Characteristics of milk involved as well. Mouthfeel is thick and lovely, great carbonation. Overall, I do like this.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
(Bottle) Black colour with dense brown head. Malty, roasted nose with strong black coffee, chocolate, almonds, chocolate-chip cookies and a touch of vanilla. Malty, roasted taste with notes of espresso, almonds, cookies, vanilla, liquorice and finish with a slight sweetness, a balanced coffee bitterness and a slight alcohol glow. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Despite its strength and powerful flavours, it’s in excellent balance and deceptively drinkable. Lovely beer!

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: DEC 15, 2015 Really dark and viscous beer with mocha color head. Aroma reminds me cookies and vanilla. Taste is more bitter with coffee notes. Body is smooth and heavy and alcohol is really well hidden. Easy drinking and tasty imperial stout.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
From notes on 7/2/15.
Finally pulled the trigger and bought this. Haven’t really been a fan of Evil Twin yet. This beer was good, but sort of a let down too. Poured kind of thin, with a nice coffee aroma. Very sweet tasting, but lacking in the mouthfeel. The sweetness was more reminiscent of a mocha than that of coffee.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bit of an oil slick over the taste buds. But aftertaste is fairly good, nothing pretentious, possibly a bit flat, could have stronger notes off the backside, it is fairly well balanced, didn’t put me to sleep, still searching for a bit more zest, front side is a bit like walking into Silver Dollar City’s old fashioned salt water taffy shop watching to taffy go round and round, candy front side dissipates to an oil slick on the taste buds, issues barrel aged version can’t eliminate. OVERSTATED ABV RATING AND EFFECT.
