The Roman Empire had a certain “je ne sais quoi” festive food culture, extravagant architecture and spectacular live entertainment. Some might argue the Emperors were brutal, mad and hungry for power, and the people vain when taking baths and working out all day. Listen – that’s still all part of the secret Imperial ingredient – keep it cool, clean, confident, arrogant and flamboyant. Forza Imperiale.

Chocolate on the nose with anise and vanilla. This is awesome. Big sips taste different than small sips and they are both just really really good. Sweeter on the small sips and a little boozy on bigger sips.

Deutlich schokoladiger Antrunk mit leichten Vanillenoten. Das Bier bleibt auf diesem Level, etwas fruchtig, malzig trocken, rund. Gut! 12/12/12//12/12

Creamy deep tan head, two fingers in depth. This beer is pitch black in color. In the aroma I’m getting dark chocolate, coffee with caramel malt undertones. Initially I get a sweetness in the taste that I wasn’t expecting. I’m getting a strong vanilla presence along with coffee, molasses, pecans or almonds along with dark chocolate notes. It is kind of reminicient of an ice cream sundae, without being coyingly sweet. Another awesome beer from EvilTwin.

Bomber into tasting glass (although I had half the bomber). Anise prominent where otherwise there is mostly pleasant chocolate coffee smell/taste. Aroma slightly muted. This beer seems to reach parts of the tongue that other beers miss. Creamy but slightly thin, beautiful bubbly tan head. Liked it slightly better when I had it on tap recently but a fine stout.

Draft at Tap and Handle. Black appearance with a light brown head. Dark malts, chocolate, coffee, roast, light vanilla and light earthy/woody notes. Full bodied. Amazing, an excellent sipper.

Bottle shared @ home from Brewberry, Paris - FR. Color: dark black oily beer with small carbonation and medium brown head. Smell: coffee domination with roasted malt, black bread notes, licorice and vanilla. Very expressive beer ! Taste: oily sensation on mouth with vanilla and coffee taste very intensive. Roasted malt finish. Aftertaste: barrel aged sensation with coffee, licorice intensive finish. Great beer !

Bottle to snifter. Pour is dark brown, near black, one finger tan head, fades to lacing/ring. Aromas of cocoa, coffee, roasted malt and a hint of booze. Taste is smooth and rich. Nice full-bodied mouthfeel without getting syrupy. Dry cocoa, vanilla wafer, bitter coffee, dark roast and some lingering booze...well hidden for the most part. Nice beer....more of a stout than an Imperial Porter, but whatever you call it, it’s good!

Bottle from Gene. Really awesome stout. Was worried it would be overly sweet like some other "flavored" stouts, but this was all within bounds. There was plenty of malty sweetness but it was well balanced and delcious.

Bomber to snifter. Thick pour, jet black, thin tan head that dissipates fast. Aroma is bold, sweet, raisin. Full body, creamy smooth, taste is roast, chocolate, molasses, coffee finish. Excellent. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
