The Roman Empire had a certain “je ne sais quoi” festive food culture, extravagant architecture and spectacular live entertainment. Some might argue the Emperors were brutal, mad and hungry for power, and the people vain when taking baths and working out all day. Listen – that’s still all part of the secret Imperial ingredient – keep it cool, clean, confident, arrogant and flamboyant. Forza Imperiale.

Bottle poured into glass. Dark black pour, thick and slightly oily. Aroma has sweet hints of chocolate, cocoa, coffee bean and slight vanilla. Flavor is more geared towards the coffee flavor but the chocolate definitely dominates the back end. Very stellar!

Bottle. Darker khaki tan head on a black body. Big chocolate presence, nice dark bitter coffee, cocoa powder and slight roast in the aroma. Nice coffee presence, flavor is very chocolatey and comes close freshly mixed Hershey’s syrup and milk, but with darker chocolate, finishes slightly bitter from roast qualiities. Medium to thicker silky body and warming. Very, very nice

Bottle @ Steve’s house. Thank you Steve! Pours a black appearance with a dark brown head. Rich Hershey’s chocolate bar, mild vanilla, light coffee, roasty, light anise aroma. Super rich chocolate bar, vanilla, big cocoa powder, roasted malty, a touch dark fruity flavor with a touch of booze on the finish. Pretty similar to Choklat but easier to drink.

Bottle & growler... This beer rocks!… Pours Marshall Zhukov black with a quickly dissipating, light brown head. The aromatics feature fudge, mocha, vanilla and a hint of almond. Full-bodied with a velvety mouthfeel and tingly carbonation. The flavor really pushes the envelope regarding intensity – huge notes of coffee, black malt, charcoal and dark chocolate. All big. All bold. All impossibly smooth. Mildly sweet in both the flavor and finish. Thanks goes out to both landhoney who provided my initial sample of this world class beer and then to ElliesBrown for providing a 32 oz growler for me to sip on slowly and savor!

Bottled 660ml (vPBF)
Deep black opaque color, small steady brown head. Raw potatoe aroma (tnx olio), roasted maltyness. Full-bodied. Very roasted flavor, alcohol, tobacco. Lingering roastyness and alcohol in the aftertaste. This is good, but something is lacking here to get real high points.

Tap @ Fermentoren.
Very creamy and chocolaty, drinkability is deceptively high. Can’t locate the weird potato notes here which were found on the bottle. Excellent.

65 cl bottle @ vPBF.
Pours pitch black color with small beige head. The first thing on the nose is potatoes, dark toasted malts, some chocolate notes and bourbon notes. Flavor of dark toasted malts, chocolate, cocoa, dark ripe fruits and liquorice. Dry malty palate with a chocolaty dry finish. 4326
