The Roman Empire had a certain “je ne sais quoi” festive food culture, extravagant architecture and spectacular live entertainment. Some might argue the Emperors were brutal, mad and hungry for power, and the people vain when taking baths and working out all day. Listen – that’s still all part of the secret Imperial ingredient – keep it cool, clean, confident, arrogant and flamboyant. Forza Imperiale.

No bottling information.

A: The body is absolutely pitch black and there’s only a thin ring around the top after the small coating dissipated.

S: The aroma is very enticing, it reminds me of a chocolate biscotti with a nice fresh cup of coffee at a nice cafe, I am also picking up some dark fruits.

T: The intro is bready with dark chocolate and a light roastiness that leads to a dark chocolate dark fruits finish. This is a sweet sipping beer.

M: Thick bodied with very light carbonation and a syrupy feel.

O: This is a really good imperial stout, but it falls short of what I was expecting. There’s not enough coffee flavors here and too much dark fruits.

Growler from Hop City Birmingham. Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Nose is bread, earthy, cinnamon coffee, cocoa. Taste is similar, very hot alcohol burn. Medium mouthfeel. I don't know what to think about this one...it has a great reputation, but a little goes a long way. Certainly worth trying! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: DEC 12, 2013 Pitch black body, decent sized dark khaki head, solid soapy lacing. Nose is robust with espresso, almonds, chocolate, vanilla, peat, roasted malts, and caramel. Flavor is similar, but lacking the same intensity, clarity, and completeness. Full bodied, smooth, creamy carbonation, roasty, lightly bitter finish. Quite interesting.

Bottled, thanks oh6gdx! Pitch black. Concentrated aroma of espresso and almond cake. Mid sweet with full body and well rounded mouthfeel. Gently warming with a facninating, intense flavour of coffee, licorice and almonds. Mid bitter finish where some cherry brandy shines through. Moreish.

came across this bottle at Northdown and had no idea of the hype especially from my experience, its a decent brew but nothing more... vanilla, nutty, chocolate and coffee, but lacking balance, thin, a bit too much alcohol present for the abv

Bomber courtesy of Pete (non-RB) and to some extent GT2. Pours black with a small creamy dark mocha head that slowly dissipates without leaving much trace on the glass. Smell is sweet with toasted malts, dark roast coffee, quality dark chocolate, vanilla fudge, roasted caramelized almonds, green chili and hints of charred wood. Taste is sweet, bitter and malty with roasted malts, quality dark chocolate, caramelized nuts, dark roast coffee, vanilla fudge, American oak and hints of peat. Mouthfeel is smooth, silky, round and full bodied. Finish is tiny sweet, bitter, very tiny sour and malty with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, vanilla fudge, roasted nuts and American oak. Very nice! Impressively balanced, smooth and good.

Black pour, minimal head, aroma is sweet malt and alcohol. Flavor is powerful coffee, roasted malts, chocolate and alcohol. Reminds me a lot of Victory at Sea. Very intested. Very sweet, almost artificially so, and pushing the limits. Like drinking a sweet coffee drink. Complexity helps make the sweetness acceptable. Overall, an impressive beer if you’re in the mood for this type of beer.

THis oddly named beer pours inky near black brown with no discernable head. Nose is sweet molasses and just a hint of bread. Taste is sweet malt with some mineral on the front. Medium bitters mild roast nut flavor. finishes with some residual sweetness. High alcohol, but not that apparent other than some initial sweetness. body full, satin, fluid.
