4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
22oz bottle that is definitely labeled "Imperial Stout" so I don’t know why it’s in the Porter category. But anyway it kind of slipped it’s way into my glass. Thick and sticky with a finger of dark brown head, quickly faded to a small ring. Aromas are rich and extremely complex, bitter baking chocolate, roasty malts, dark fruits like figs and dates, raisins, brown sugar and molasses, almost no hops present. A little alcohol present in the smell. Taste is amazing, tons of cocoa, coffee, toffee, caramel, molasses, burnt sugar and cookie vanilla malt, all roasted and toasted in a beautiful warming finish. Glad I saved it for 12/25. Lovely mouthfeel, thick and creamy, a subtle carbonation helps lighten the heavy body. This is an excellent stout, to be savored and enjoyed.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Deep black with a thin lacing of brown head. Aroma is almond and cocoa with strong black coffee. Almost smells like baked goods in the oven. Flavor is intensely sweet cocoa, coffee and slight almond. Almost a little overly sticky sweet, finish gets a little viscous. However, very interesting and I would definitely try it again. Just fails a little at being nicely balanced, it could use a little more bitter, roasted coffee to even out the sticky sweet.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Black pour with a tall, thick, dark brown head. Aroma is strong chocolate notes, cocoa, coffee, brown sugar and roasted malt. Taste is dark chocolate, chocolate candy, coffee, roasted malt, brown sugar, caramel and molasses. Body is full with a moderate, dense carbonation and mild alcoholic warmth. Very sticky as well. Ends with more roasted malt, dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses and brown sugar. Damn tasty!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber shared by Turdferguson - thanks, Sam! I had been none too impressed with the base beer, finding it to lack most of the ingredients I craved in favor of a sweet, syrupy dessert beer. The big boy here interestingly ended up being a bit more complex and complete. Thick, sludgy dark chocolate body. Minimal carbonation but potent, lasting. Strong coffee and vanilla in the nose, with a touch of almond. That’s the stuff I missed in the merely 8.4 version! For me, I’d have liked just a bit more presence from the coffee. But still an improvement.

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours pitch black with almost no head. Looks like motor oil coming out of the bottle. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malts and a touch of coffee. Taste is huge chocolate notes, brief coffee appearances, finishing with a little coffee/hop bitterness. Palate is smooth and creamy. Nice alcohol warmth without prominent alcohol taste.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber from Discount in Waukesha shared by ck1 and my other brother. Pours an inky black with a brownish head. Aroma has liquid chocolate, sweet malts and licorice. Taste is of super sweet chocolate, caramel, some roast and vanilla. Bourbon gets stronger through the glass. Very smooth. Finishes sweetly smoothly choco/vanilla. Very smooth and nice. A hair less alcohol and it would be wonderful. ck1 says 15.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
From the bottle at Cajun Cafe Fall Fest 2012. Pours a mean-looking stout brown with a tan head. Nose is huge chocolate syrup, almond extract, cocoa, roasted malts, and some frappucino. Nose is sweet and chocolatey. Flavor follows suit with chocolate syrup, almond extract, vanilla, and booze. Syrupy and very sweet; reminded me of Black Tuesday a bit. Medium in body and a sipping dessert.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from 16 Tons, Eugene. Pours a dark brown with tan head. Aroma is thick, rich chocolate, maybe a hint of booze. Body is thick, viscous even. Overall effect is rich, heavy on chocolate with more than a hint of smoked malts in the finish, warming nearly invisible. A really superb beer, but maybe not something I’d want to have 22 ounces of. Hmm...
