COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Roman Empire had a certain “je ne sais quoi” festive food culture, extravagant architecture and spectacular live entertainment. Some might argue the Emperors were brutal, mad and hungry for power, and the people vain when taking baths and working out all day. Listen – that’s still all part of the secret Imperial ingredient – keep it cool, clean, confident, arrogant and flamboyant. Forza Imperiale.

Growler from Hop City Birmingham. Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Nose is bread, earthy, cinnamon coffee, cocoa. Taste is similar, very hot alcohol burn. Medium mouthfeel. I don't know what to think about this one...it has a great reputation, but a little goes a long way. Certainly worth trying! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours black with brown head. Huge body. Chocolate, caramel, vanilla, tons of sweetness. Favorite stout/porter ive ever had.

It did not seem to start to generate a head with a moderate pour, so I then poured hard. It did generate a nice dark tan 1 finger head. This beer is as black as you can get with no light being able to penetrate through. Head disappeared very quickly and only a hint of a foam ring from there on. No lacing/bubble replenishment to speak of. Pours like a syrup. Smells chocolaty and sweet. Only a hint of coffee in there. Smells like dessert for sure. A slight roasted malt smell as well. No real hop bitterness to speak of. Hits you quickly with coffee, chocolate, and charred wood. It is very very sweet. The alcohol is not as apparent as I originally braced myself for (seeing that it is a 11.5% brew). It isn’t as "beer-y" as I had hoped for. It tastes like a decent Baltic Porter with some Creme De Cocoa and Kahlua mixed in. It is really creamy tasting, but seems to be really flat once you drink it. When I think of Stouts, I think of a dark brew that is dryer than this (hence my reference to a Baltic Porter instead). As the sweetness fades, there are some notes of roasted nuts, wood, and caramel. This one feels really flat. Quite disappointing actually. Light bodied surprisingly. Would have gotten a better score if a better mouthfeel and effervescence. It does seem like you are drinking a mixed drink of some sort (like a Black Russian). Just doesn’t seem to fit into a beer category with me. It does have a great flavor though and packs a punch with the 11.5% ABV (even though it isn’t that apparent, it hit me pretty hard mid-bottle). I recommend trying this one, but it wouldn’t be a regular purchase for me.

Pours very dark brown, with a dark tan head. Aroma of alcohol and chocolate biscotti. Taste is sweet, with notes of chocolate, biscotti, and a complex palate that lingers. Thumbs up!

Bottle @ New Years Eve ’15. Bottle says best before 5/2015. Pitch black pour with a dark tan head. Notes of chocolate sauce, cocoa, vanilla, fairly sweet, some light licorice and malty sweet. Delicious!

In a night filled with dark, huge, malty beers (and a following day filled with misery that was still totally worthwhile) Imperial Biscotti Break managed to stand out. Evil Twin doesn’t make small beers. This Imperial Stout is big, rich, and dangerous. Flavor is light on coffee and heavy on bittersweet (mostly sweet) chocolate and blackened barley. Mouthfeel is full and warm. Did I mention full? You could probably chew this. Oh, and did I mention boozy? Holy hell.

UPDATED: JAN 2, 2016 (Thanks Josh! "StFun") Bottle. A- Chocolate fudge. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Fudge, chocolate, subtle coffee. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, full body. O- This is a beer I’ve always wanted but thought no way it can be worth the cost of admission for a bottle. I was gladly wrong. This was delicious. It wasn’t overly complex and didn’t have a ton of things going on. Lots of fudge like chocolate and it was done well. Very tasty.

Quite awesome. Strong Flavors and aromas. Chocolate, vanilla, coffee, toasted-bready malt with a slight sweetness and mild bitter finish. Beautifully dark with a thin head and heavy. Dessert beer.

Picked up at Princeton Liquors in Plymouth. Dark pour. Tastes of licorice, vanilla, fig, molasses, soy. A bit thin for such a big beer. Not a huge fan. A bit pricey.

Pours dark like freshly brewed coffee. Aroma is thin and does not stand out. Flavor is bold and complex: coffee, vanilla, cookie dough, malt. Interesting brew but somewhat off balance.
