The Roman Empire had a certain “je ne sais quoi” festive food culture, extravagant architecture and spectacular live entertainment. Some might argue the Emperors were brutal, mad and hungry for power, and the people vain when taking baths and working out all day. Listen – that’s still all part of the secret Imperial ingredient – keep it cool, clean, confident, arrogant and flamboyant. Forza Imperiale.

Serving: from tap at The Beer Junction. Aroma: moderate chocolate aroma. Appearance: small, frothy, brown, initial head with no lacing and fully diminishing longevity. Dark brown/black body. Taste: heavy/harshly sweet, dark-chocolate, initial flavor and finish with long duration. Palate: medium body, oily texture and soft carbonation. Overall: at first it tasted really good--like a dark-chocolate bar--but the overwhelming sweetness quickly got old. By the time I’d finished half the glass, I was getting tired of it and it took a while to finish the second half. Reminded me of the days after Halloween during my childhood when I’d eaten too much candy in one sitting. It would be great in a four ounce sampler, but an entire glass was too much.

650ml bottle, leftover from brother last night session. Aroma: great coffee beans blended with chocolate notes, alcohol spiciness. Subtle vanilla notes. App: pitch black, medium brown frothy head, great retention and thick lacing... Even one day after being opened. Impressive. Taste and palate: full body, creamy, soft carbonation, medium sweetness, light bitter and alcohol finish. Overall: what a nice surprise for a big that opened about 15-20 hrs ago. So creamy. Great nose and taste. Wow! Not too sweet and not to bitter. Just wished I could have drank it yesterday night with my brother to fully appreciate it as it was meant to be. A great imperial stout with not much flaws.

Being a big fan of stouts I am never disappointed with Evil Twin’s generous lineup of stouts. In this case with Imperial Biscotti it is .very unique with a smooth nutty and creamy flavor that is complimented by a subtle coffe roastiness and chocolate backbone. Dark as ink and full bodied. The only criticism may be the quick disappearing act of the lush brown head.

Very solid offering. Hits on all the promised flavors of coffee, nuts, and vanilla. Nice roast backbone. No alcohol burn. A tad thin for more.
