The Roman Empire had a certain “je ne sais quoi” festive food culture, extravagant architecture and spectacular live entertainment. Some might argue the Emperors were brutal, mad and hungry for power, and the people vain when taking baths and working out all day. Listen – that’s still all part of the secret Imperial ingredient – keep it cool, clean, confident, arrogant and flamboyant. Forza Imperiale.

THis oddly named beer pours inky near black brown with no discernable head. Nose is sweet molasses and just a hint of bread. Taste is sweet malt with some mineral on the front. Medium bitters mild roast nut flavor. finishes with some residual sweetness. High alcohol, but not that apparent other than some initial sweetness. body full, satin, fluid.

Bottled. Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma is dark chocolate with coffee notes. Flavor is dark chocolate, super rich, roasted maltiness, and a little bit of cookie flavor there. The biscotti does come through a little bit. Fantastic. Coffee bitterness lingers on the tongue afterwards. Not boozy at all for such a strong beer. Decent mouthfeel and super drinkable.

UPDATED: AUG 30, 2014 My Bottom Line:
Vanilla extract and sweet milk flavors suffuse this viscous monster’s molasses-like sweetness, as alcohol and roasted malts attempt to salvage the finish.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A thin ring of foam sits atop the brown-hued blackness.
-The low carbonation emphasizes the body’s obesity.
-The ’added flavors’ in this brew simple take over any semblance of malt and hop flavor.
-The flavor profile is linear.
-Drinkability is obviously very low, but the sipping enjoyment factor is as well.

I saw this on the shelf at the Argonaut in Denver and hesitated to buy it, since it was about $15. Glad I pulled the trigger. My buddy and I split this and a Marshal Zhukov one night. Both are great beers but very different. This has a ton of coffee and chocolate that almost hide the roastiness of the malt. If you’re looking for a sweet imperial stout, you’ve found it. Delicious.

Well carbonated for style and ring of head persists. Aroma of dark chocolate and dark fruits with some cookie. Taste is pretty clean with balanced bitterness and is pretty smooth. For style I think there are better beers so not my fav but still good and worth trying

Appearance: Black body beneath a creamy brown head that fades to a light brown ring along the outside of the glass. Very little lacing. Aroma: It has a rich chocolate cookie aroma. It really reminds me of a chocolate cookie. Taste: It has a delicious rich but light roasted coffee flavor. There is a presence of dark chocolate as well, but it is very delicate and blends into the coffee-like flavor. It is important to note that while this beer maintains an ABV of 11.5% there is zero noticeable alcohol. Palate: It has a wonderfully full mouthfeel that just coats every nook can cranny with flavor and richness. It is fantastic. Zero astringency, zero harsh bitterness, and zero unpleasantness.. Overall: This is a fantastic beer. I will be buying it again if I can. I would highly recommend it to others who enjoy coffee or chocolate and don’t want any of the normally associated bitterness or harshness. It’s wonderful.

Great balance. I get the biscotti but it’s appropriately subtle. Heavy dark chocolate with some coffee and a ton of roast. Pours black good head and lacing. Very bitter finish with light hints of booze on finish. Tap at Churchkey.
