COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Roman Empire had a certain “je ne sais quoi” festive food culture, extravagant architecture and spectacular live entertainment. Some might argue the Emperors were brutal, mad and hungry for power, and the people vain when taking baths and working out all day. Listen – that’s still all part of the secret Imperial ingredient – keep it cool, clean, confident, arrogant and flamboyant. Forza Imperiale.

Great imperial porter! Really chicolately aroma almost coffee like. The taste is chocolatelty and hints of coffee. A little toasty background. Sligthly sweet but I like it!

Having this brew at about cellar temp. Appearance is a huge, thick, foamy tan head that slowly subsides, lots of lace, and an opaque black brown color. Aroma is mild - malt, cocoa, toffee, biscuit, yeast, coffee. Flavor’s like nose plus slightly sweet tart up front with bitter coming next and finishing with a dynamic mix of the three. No off characteristics at all. Everything is very smooth and balanced. Later more sweetness comes out. Aesthetics are key here. Beautiful body. I want so much more.

Smell: coffee, no alcohol really, chocolate is very subtle Taste: I get the sweet first (chocolate) and it ends with some bitter coffee flavor like espresso beans roasted with chocolate. The roast is not abundant. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

*from old note* Really really thick, oily IS with burnt/roasted coffee and lots of vanilla, and a little almond. Smell pretty much the same. One of the best IS i have every tried.

Black pour, brown head. Aroma of coffee, espresso and dark chocolate. Very sweet flavor of dark chocolate, espresso and cookies with a sweet finish. Full bodied. Fantastic.

On tap at the Red Hot. Black with thin tan head. Scent is dark chocolate, cherries and alcohol. Taste is cherry, some chocolate. Booze is covered pretty well. Very tasty.

Pours an opaque black with a small lasting brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, coffee, cocoa nibs, chocolate, and a sweet maltiness. Flavour consists of roasted malts, chocolate, cocoa nibs, coffee, faint alcohol(super tame and we?ll hidden for an 11.5 percent beer),moderately sweet maltiness, mild-med bitterness and a somewhat dry finish.

Pours an opaque black with a small frothy brown head that dissipates into a nice ring that leaves lace. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, cocoa and alcohol with a delicious sweetness in the scent. Taste is roasted malts, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, espresso a d a good alcohol warming on the finish with some bitterness from the roasted malts to balance the sweetness and alcohol... Great imperial stout!

Poured from a 2013 bottle into a snifter like motor oil. A thick minimal head. Aroma is roasted sweet dark chocolate. Flavor is reminds me of a minted caramelized marshmallow dipped in dark chocolate. Slight bitterness in the finish. Delectable bitter sweet. Did I say dark chocolate?? Carbonation minimal but adequate considering the style & age. Overall a well above average Imperial Stout.

On tap at the Tomato Bistro, Manayunk. Pours a super dark black with a little white lacing. Bitter, mineraly aroma. Mouthfeel is medium and actually kind of dry. Good amount of carbonation. Taste is interesting. Dry, minty, bready.... unique for this type of beer. No taste of the 11.5% abv. Solid but not great.

Chocolate on the nose with anise and vanilla. This is awesome. Big sips taste different than small sips and they are both just really really good. Sweeter on the small sips and a little boozy on bigger sips.
