COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Roman Empire had a certain “je ne sais quoi” festive food culture, extravagant architecture and spectacular live entertainment. Some might argue the Emperors were brutal, mad and hungry for power, and the people vain when taking baths and working out all day. Listen – that’s still all part of the secret Imperial ingredient – keep it cool, clean, confident, arrogant and flamboyant. Forza Imperiale.

UPDATED: DEC 12, 2013 Pitch black body, decent sized dark khaki head, solid soapy lacing. Nose is robust with espresso, almonds, chocolate, vanilla, peat, roasted malts, and caramel. Flavor is similar, but lacking the same intensity, clarity, and completeness. Full bodied, smooth, creamy carbonation, roasty, lightly bitter finish. Quite interesting.

[5760-20130830] Bottle. Roasted raisin malt aroma has a bit of a jalepeno pepper. Black brown body with a quick brown head. Roasted pepper skins flavour has a bit too much burnt coffee. Full body. Tasty but super burnt. (7/3/7/3/15) 3.5

Bottle thanks to Alemax. Pours very dark brown with quickly settling, light brown head, essentially no lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee, caramel, toffee. Flavor is sweet, huge caramelized sugar, coffee, roasted malt, toffee, nutty and toasted with a dark chocolate, roasted, bittersweet finish. Soft carbonation, medium-full body, and very smooth texture.

Glowing, evil reddish head and dark liquid in the glass. Aromas of bitter chocolate and bark and espresso. A profound amount of hops somehow supersedes the serious malt here. Excellent.

Black pour. Tan head. Little bit of lacing. Nice nose on this. Chocolate, bready, malty. Taste is creamy and sweet. Beautiful nectar.

650 ml bottle at home. Thanks Jan! Black color with nice creamy dark brown head. Aroma is roasted malty, chocolate - milk chocolate, coffee, some olives, some alcohol when it gets warmer. Taste is like aroma but better. Sweet at the beginning, bitter later. Roasted malty, sweet chocolate, dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla, some caramel. Medium to full body, creamy silky feeling, soft carbonation. Alcohol is well hidden, it appears only when the beer gets quite warm. Very drinkable! Very good!

Black pour into a snifter. Roasted coffee and chocolate in the aroma. This is a pretty strong beer. The coffee is heavy and masks any underlying alcohol that might try to shine through. Smooth, sweet, potent.

Dark brown tar-like beer with a thin beige head that disappears within seconds. Nose of unsweetened cocoa, coffee, and aged balsamic. Mouth feel is rich and luxurious as the flavors of dark chocolate and medium roast coffee saturate your taste buds. Despite the resinous texture there is more effervescence than you would think. Delicious beer.

Pours pitch black with extremely thick mocca head. Nose is like a sticky chocolate cake. Lots of chocolate and some subdued coffee. Hints of red berries. Taste is balanced with sweet chocolate and coffee. Some roasted notes as well. Medium body light carbonation. Very high quality!

Bottled. Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma is dark chocolate with coffee notes. Flavor is dark chocolate, super rich, roasted maltiness, and a little bit of cookie flavor there. The biscotti does come through a little bit. Fantastic. Coffee bitterness lingers on the tongue afterwards. Not boozy at all for such a strong beer. Decent mouthfeel and super drinkable.

MartinT (7811) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 29, 2014
UPDATED: AUG 30, 2014 My Bottom Line:
Vanilla extract and sweet milk flavors suffuse this viscous monster’s molasses-like sweetness, as alcohol and roasted malts attempt to salvage the finish.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A thin ring of foam sits atop the brown-hued blackness.
-The low carbonation emphasizes the body’s obesity.
-The ’added flavors’ in this brew simple take over any semblance of malt and hop flavor.
-The flavor profile is linear.
-Drinkability is obviously very low, but the sipping enjoyment factor is as well.

Bottle.
