Tart persimmon nose, faint blueberry accent. Cloudy pink, thick pale pink head. Very tart, clean, lactic malt finish. Exceedingly refreshing, little presence of blueberries or anything else.

Smells fruity and enticing. Cloudy with minimal head. Tastes just like a Berliner Weiss beer should but better. Didn't leave any lingering sourness.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
500ml bottle thanks to jtclockwork for sharing. This bottle clearly says barrel - aged on it... Seems like a lot of people have mis rated this. Thin khaki head. Blue berry in the nose. Less in the flavor. Flavor is mostly wine barrel wood. Good bigger sour taste. Some tannin. Medium-plus body, lightly slick. Lighter carbonation. Pretty tasty barrel aged sour.

Bottle. Murky brown pour, with a little bit of white head. Aroma, lots of sour funk, leather, and oak. Taste, sour tartness up front, prickly carbonation, some light sweetness, sour finish. Really nice.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Light blueberry aroma. I’m getting bits of lemongrass. Not a very complicated aroma. Flavor is, initially, tart blueberry. I think the blueberry gives this a nice tartness, but the flavor itself is not strikingly noticeable. Bits of lemon pop through, but again, not necessarily in a very noticeable way. It’s awfully weird as this feels as though it has a light texture, but there, on the back end, a richer texture hits my palate. Not a nuanced beer, but I enjoy this for it’s light, refreshing qualities. Don’t expect to be blown away by blueberries.

On tap at Craft Beer Co, Islington on 13th April 2014 during a visit with Svesse. Thickly hazy amber with no head of any type. Grapefruit, lemon and lime in aroma and liquid with sour berries. Grassy bitter finish with light yet engaging mouthfeel and plenty of body.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(Draught at Craft Islington, London, 12 Apr 2014) Hazy amber colour with brief, white head. Fruity nose with notes of blueberries, grapefruit and citrus. Fruity, slightly tart taste with grapefruit, citrus, grass, a touch of blueberries and a dry finish with a slight tartness. Medium body, quite dry, with low bitterness. Refreshing and tasty, with a fresh tartness. Nice one.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A steady pour into my large Tripel Karmeliet tulip produces a two finger thick, pink / pale-blue tinged, head that leaves some light lacing on the sides of my glass. The beer is a deep, dark, purple / concentrated amber color that shows a mostly clear, deep red / purple stained hue when held up to the light. The aroma smells of lightly wooded oak up front, but then a toasted oak character towards the finish. Throughout there is a floral blueberry character and a tart berry character.
Lightly tart up front which plays a soft berry character that is just distinct enough to hint at tart blueberries. This has a nice, prickly carbonation that isn’t overly heavy, but adds some zip to the light body. The finish has a light, woody astringency, as well as a rounded toasted oak character to it that brings out an almost toasted cracker like character. As the beer warms up the berry character, and perhaps the barrel influence, brings out some red wine like flavors towards the finish; this adds some complexity and interest to the flavor, in what would otherwise be a simple beer.
Clean like a Berliner, with a clean tartness and light beer notes. The fruit and the barrel contribute more here than the base beer, but these are light enough that they don’t overwhelm things. This beer is down right quaffable, and quite nice in the end.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle generously given to m by Hopscotch and served in my PW bowl: Pours a coppery pinkish hue with a fading fizzy head. Darker than the other version. The aroma has notes of lactic and acidic vapours, light red grape and blueberry skin, greek yogurt and cheesecake, mineral water. The taste is quite grape-y and moderately tart with a skillfully placed pils and wheat background. A touch of barnyard and cheesy notes are noticed by clearly just a subplot to the brisk acidity. This beer is lively and refreshing but could still stand for a tad more carbonation. Overall I like this a bit more than the Westbrook version but each have there strengths and weakness.
