4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Huge thank you to Brad for sending these my way. Served alongside the standard Justin Blåbær.
Remarkably different appearance than the regular version. The beer looks like blueberry juice. Bluish purple with a thin pink cap. Aromas of wine, blueberries. More vibrant and flavorful than the non barrel-aged version. Sweet fruit balanced with funk and wine barrels. Delicious.

22 ounce from Charleston Beer Exchange. PInkish purple color. Light and spritzy. Bit of the tangy to it. Interesting take on the style. Not super sour or tart, but a bit.

UPDATED: SEP 27, 2013 Bottle on 8/12/2013. Good pucker factor, but kind of thin. A bit sour, a bit of the blueberry. Honestly, I bought it for the amusement factor more than anything. Didn’t disappoint.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
The Sampler, Brooklyn bottle shared amongst a bunch of people: Pours weird pinkish, blue, orangish cloudy colour. Aroma is a whole lot of tartness and blueberries. Taste is like sour berry jam, but is also light and refreshing. I found this to be a little one-dimensional. Some people at the bar liked it, but there were also a bunch of unhappy samplers.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz bottle from Binnys Marcey (Chicago, IL). Finally grabbed this and I’m happy I found it. Pours a pinkish reddish hue, almost like that Snapple "Ice" element I used to drink as a kid. A nice healthy glow, decent haze, mellow fizzy whitish head atop dies to a loose carbonation driven ring, skant lacing. Aromas show a firm lactic presence, yogurty and lemony elements take over, some blueberry skin, gentle funk, sour and tart. Grapefruit and lemon, gentle bready malt, some blueberry elements start to grow as it settles some more. Subtle oak, some gentle feel there but really the lactic element takes control for me. Initial is sour, but not overwhelming. Tart white grapes meet lemon, some yogurt, and gentle bready malts. Firm albeit workable lactic presence meets some gentle blueberry, touches of blueberry skin and fruit. Middle is a bit of the same, firm sourness hits at this point, trailing back to a sweeter backend for me with fruit elements, more berry complexity back here, ester and gentle cobwebs. A bit of oak is subtle, showing a firmer funky element as we finish. Cobwebs, some soft cheesiness really catches on. This one was a bit odd. A solid nose and enjoyable front end finishes on a bit of a down note for me. It’s not bad, it’s pretty solid, I guess I just expected a bit more brightness and sustained flavors here. Solid.

Wine version bottle at Torst Luksus, 08/21/2013. Pours brown raspberry, light strawberry cream head fades quickly. Aroma is touch of woody, nutty chocolate and caramel, cherry vinegar, tart, blueberry fruitiness, mild vanilla with vinous finish. Taste is tart berries, juicy blueberry, lactic residual sweetness, dark vinous fruitiness, wood. Light, crisp body, refreshing. Interesting, more complex than I was expecting.
