4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottles from Whole Foods and Smith’s. Pours turbid and fizzy dark straw colored with minimal head. Nose is great tart fruit, blackberry, hops, lactose. Tastes tart, with big fresh blueberry flavor, heavy tartness, and finishing funk and lemony notes. This one is excellent, and as god as I recalled the first time I had it in August 201 in Craft Ale House from a shard bottle from the Queen of Beers, Janet.

On tap at Borefts 2012. One of my highlights from the event. Pours a very murky brown amber color with a small bubbly white head. Not much lacing to note. Aromas and taste of currants, blueberry syrup, oak, cherry, dusty vinegar, corn, granny smith, and acidic yeastiness. Mouthfeel was nice and dry. Medium bodied. Delicious Berliner that is tragically underrated.

Pours a cloudy soft rose color with almost no head. Aromas of tart berries. Taste is initially tart, some juicy berry. Not much pucker factor. Finishes quick and dry. Fucking amazing.

S: Mildly Bitter Blueberries, Red Wine

Overall, the red wine barrel and blueberries really popped after letting it warm up for 45 minutes...do not drink cooler temp.

UPDATED: JUL 25, 2013 Had this one on draught at Closed for Business in Chucktown, SC while waiting for the BA Mexicake. Pours a purplish blue. Taste is heavy blueberry and very tart. Feels like candy in the mouth. Overall great beer. A little pricey, but worth it.

Full disclosure: have not tried the non-barrel aged version. This isn't bad. Sour. Tart. Solid B.

Pouring at the Saturday sessions of Extreme Beerfest. Pours a faintly hazed pink hued gold with a thin white head. Spicy musk and funk, soft dusty blueberries. Tart with some faint acid, light funk and blueberries. Lovely cheesy funk, chewy blueberries. Fruit leather into a long funky tart finish. Probably my favorite of the Saturday session stuff. Beautiful.
