Dark and inky with minimal head. Smells like soy sauce! Big and smoky with floral aromas. Tastes initially of very burnt sharp roasted malts, then turns into malty biscuity bitterness. Has the rich grainy body to balance the salty raisin sourness. Body is sticky sweet but not thick with good carbonation.

Dark beer with a short lived tan head that shrank to a lasting, sticky ring. Big malty nose with plenty of alcohol. You can taste every bit of the claimed abv in this one. Lots of juicy, over ripe fruit, raisin, rum soaked fruit cake, and more alcohol. Thick, sweet finish. A bit much, actually.

Bottled, pours a dark brown with a light tan fizzy head. The aroma is very alcoholic and malty. The taste is dark and alcoholic. Overall very strong.

Inky black pour with a khaki head that quickly recedes. Aroma is strong and dark with syrupy roastiness and a heavy dark bittersweet cocoa. Flavor is big and bold with dark bittersweet cocoa, black licorice, plum, and lots of roast malt with a sweet caramel finish.

Poured a dark brown color with aromas of coffee, light chocolate and a touch of hops. Flavors ear the same, not as thick as I would want my porters, but decent none the less.

Black with minimal dark brown head. Aroma is chocolate and roasted malt. Taste is similar, sweet but not cloying, with some alcohol heat. Very, very good.

Pours an opaque brown. Lots of chocolate coffee and some alcohol on the nose. Taste is chocolate toffee and sweet malts. Alcohol warms on the finish which is dry slightly metallic and slightly tart. Exceptional beer.

Another solid offering from Evil Twin - burnt coffee and caramel comes through on the nose immediately and follows with some toffee, too. The mouthfeel is quite acerbic for a porter - not hoppy but the espresso bestows the bitterness. Thinner finish though, especially considering the heat it has, and it drops off a bit but still very good.

Clear dark black brown colour with a large, frothy, good lacing, fully lasting, beige to light brown head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, alcohol, light coffee, honey notes. Flavour is heavy sweet and light heavy bitter with a long duration, malt bitter, sweet malt, dark roasted, dark chocolate. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20131012]

crackedmachine (469) - Seattle, Washington, USA - OCT 28, 2013
Connecticut brewed, bottled in July 2013, 12 oz. bottle $3.99. Black, light carbonation, minimal tan head. Aroma is very sweet with elements of molasses, toffee, vanilla, rich chocolate, coffee. Flavor is very sweet as well, initially cloying with a marshmallow and malt sweetness, and boozy burn when it first hits the palate, but settling into something very pleasant and rich: toffee, burnt sugar, chocolate, preserved dark cherries. Intensely flavorful, mostly pleasant, but the upfront cloying sweet malt kick brings the score down a bit.
